  1. Past hour
  2. One has to think that with the limited playing time through 3 games these 2 big guys will have little impact on the Purdue game. Or is that what Groce wants Matt Painter to think. Hmmm. 🧐🥸🤫
  3. Today
  4. Regarding Durham — PFF graded him as the best defender on the field against Kent State, giving him a mark above 80. I thought he played fairly well too, even though the stat sheet doesn’t show much. I’d disagree with PFF — as I often do — about the rating being that high, but compared to his other performances, I think it was one of his better games. Players don’t always need stats to be disruptive, and even those who haven’t played at a consistently high level can have a solid outing every now and then. Take it for what it’s worth, but a few opposing coaches have mentioned him in pregame pressers as someone they needed to account for. I do think he has the potential to develop into a much better player, but I also agree he hasn’t given us as much as we’ve needed this year — nor have our backup linemen, so the options have been limited. The potential is there; whether he reaches it remains to be seen. I’m not trying to turn this or any thread into something about one player — just clarifying the comment.
  5. I thought the exact same thing the second I saw that. I had to look twice to make sure I read it properly!
  6. It's looking like a Zips win on Thursday may wrap up a top 16 seed. And as TennZip said, a tournament win will almost assuredly guarantee a top 8 seed. Keep it going, Zips!
  7. Did we learn anything about Brisco or Barre?
  8. Tough night for the women's team...
  9. James Madison has quite a bit of talent with no chemistry yet. They'll be fine, and when they are fine, we won't have to play them.
  10. I would argue that each time they settled for a 3 point attempt instead of pushing for 7, it gave Kent momentum, not us. The first drive - where we pushed down the field at will and then settled - set the tone for the entire game.
  11. I think I made the right choice attending the Midget Mania Wrestling event at the Barley House tonight.
  12. It might still be a little too early to say definitively. They have a lot of new bodies this year. It will likely take them most of OOC to find themselves. I certainly know last year we struggled in OOC play for similar reasons.
  13. Last post of the evening for me....... St. Louis advances to A-10 final with a 1-0 win over Davidson. not an action filled contest.......St. Louis had 3 shots on goal and Davidson had only 1 As a result of the win, St. Louis moves up from 27 RPI to 23 RPI St. Louis is now 10-2-6 and they will play Dayton (8-2-7 record) in the A10 final as of 10:30 tonight, Dayton RPI is #98 with 4 of the 5 zip opponents.....advancing to their conference finals tonight, the ZIPS moved up 1 spot in RPI the Mighty Zips are now #8 in RPI Indiana was #8 before tonight. at 10:30 tonight, Indiana is #9 in RPI Indiana's regular season is done as they went 5-5 in the Big Ten and did not qualify for their conference tournament. Indiana in the Big Ten lost to 5-8-3 Michigan State. When they did not play Indiana, Michigan State had a record of 1-5-3 in the Big Ten. Michigan State is currently 89 in RPI. Indiana also lost to Northwestern. When they were not playing Indiana, Northwestern had a record of 2-5-2 in the Big Ten. as I have said before....if Georgetown or Akron win the Big East tournament, the Big East tournament winner must get a top 8 seed. the NCAA committee always seeds IU higher than their RPI.....but a mediocre team in the Big Ten does not deserve a top 10 seed in the NCAA
  14. absolutely love that Dublin Jerome......used the A-Roo logo in the announcement the BEST Zip Logo, ever !!!!
  15. Akron and Kent used up all the MACtion this year.
  16. No #MACTION tonight. No game closer than 17 which is what CMU is up on Buffalo, who has played the weakest schedule in the MAC but they will likely be going Bowling. Toledo thumping Miami and NIU taking UMass to the woodshed.
  17. Marshall advanced to the SunBelt conference final with a PK goal at 109:24.....to give them a huge 3-2 win over West Virginia PK was very legitimate...very clear handball on West Virginia in the box St. Louis still leads 1-0 at 80 the huge national upset tonight was Maryland suffering their first loss of the year in the Big Ten conference semis UCLA was 52 in RPI when their game started against Maryland . Maryland was 3 in RPI at the start of their game at 10 pm eastern time, UCLA jumps up to 35 in RPI. Maryland drops to #6.
  18. Western Michigan advanced to Missouri valley final with a 5-4 win on PK’s i think they will play at Evansville Saturday night for league title West Virginia and Marshall still tied at 109 minutes St Louis leading 1-0 at 65
  19. James Madison lost to Longwood. We got catfished out of a good opponent it seems. JMU has been ugly so far Milwaukee lost to Indiana. They kept it around 10 for 30 mins and Indiana pulled away
  20. 58 point win over Penn State. Sure I'll take it.
  21. a big relief....for Zips RPI Vermont golden goal at 97:40...to give them a 2-1 win over #113 in RPI Vermont will host Bryant...in American East final at 8:30 tonight, Bryant was #4 in RPI and Vermont was #5 in RPI West Virginia and Marshall headed to OT... Western Michigan is tied 1-1 at 99 minutes
  22. WMU beat Purdue Fort Wayne. 2-0 day for the MAC
  23. Very exciting night of conference semifinal action Cleveland State advances to Horizon league final with a 2-0 win over Robert Morris Western Michigan and Drake are currently tied 1-1 at 89 St. Louis leads Davidson 1-0 at 37 #12 Marshall and #17 West Virginia tied 2-2 at 80 I have been watching New Hampshire at Vermont on ESPN +...they are headed to Overtime New Hampshire has 5-7-5 record ...and is 113 in RPI Vermont is 12-0-5.....#5 in RPI NH scored at 9 minutes Vermont equalized at 85.... Vermont leads 23-7 in shots , 11-1 in corner kicks let's go catamount,s broncos and moutaineers
  24. Groce just said in the post-game that Stankovic was sick the last couple of days and that he wasn't planning on playing him but he was feeling better and wanted to play.
  25. FGs provide some momentum as they offer some positive feedback for a good drive. Getting stopped on fourth down hands momentum to the other team. On two occasions the Zips were stopped on fourth down. Two wasted possessions or the surrendering of field position in a close games kill. I've watched a lot of football in my life. One thing I always notice is teams that play not to lose end up plodding along and winning a lot of games. However, Akron didn't play not to lose last night. They played to lose with turnovers, giving up big plays and sacks.
  26. Conner Groce for threeeee
  27. I think the Bulls might be turning things around. Because of their recent past, they have a pretty good schedule with teams that thought they were garbage. DePaul learned the hard way ... Vermont and St. Bonaventure are still to come. But unlike the preseason MAC favorites (Miami, Akron, Kent, Ohio) who rivalry aside only play each other once, Buffalo has two games each with Miami, Akron, Ohio and UMass, so they could still be a .500 team ... but also a very tough team to deal with if they make the MAC Tournament. Frankly, I think that's good for the MAC.
