Well, it was Texas-Pan American when he started. 😉Looking at their history, it's a tough place to win or even be respectable for that matter. Fennell had two winning records there his two years. Maybe WMU is on to something.

Richie’s cross/assist…
-
Richie Laryea had another assist last night for Toronto in 2-1 win over Columbus great paragraph about Richie. In this article: https://torontoreds.com/match-report-toronto-fc-2-1-columbus-crew-01km95cfm0b1 The Richie Laryea Factor - At this point, it’s not even a debate: Richie Laryea is the heartbeat of this roster. Whether he’s marauding down the wing or tucking inside to create overloads, his work rate and tenacity set the tone for the entire squad. His assist on the Cifuentes goal was a perfect example of his ability to turn a standard transition into a goal-scoring opportunity. When the game gets chaotic, Laryea is the one player who consistently demands the ball and forces the opposition into mistakes, making him arguably the most indispensable piece of Fraser’s lineup.

Don't have the stats for this year but Cinderella is dead

UTRGV was Dan Hipsher's last head-coaching job.

Had to look up who the heck UTRGV is. Not exactly a big name. Not much of a resume, but has been some good places.

Gerry McNamara to Syracuse. Not that Groce was really a candidate for the position, but it's a positive that this hiring doesn't open up another vacancy that might have been. -

Interesting... -
I respectfully disagree. We don't need him and his attitude (me first). Groce has often said "you have to fit our culture, we are not going to change to fit you" Simmons demands everyone fits him. Besides we need more height than 6'7".

big whiff by Coach Ford. need a viable big.

I'm not sure how Shrewsberry is a serious candidate. His run at Notre Dame has been pretty terrible. Nored might be our best hope. -

As of this moment there are 24 teams left in the tournament. Only two are not P4 teams (and one is from the Big East). Yay college basketball. 🤮

P4s just wont play us. 😉

2025-26 Post Mortem and Looking Ahead to 2026-27
clarkwgriswold replied to Zippy87's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I'm as disappointed as anyone that the Zips season has come to an end. That disappointment is enhanced by the current state of college basketball and its impact on programs like the Zips. That being said, I couldn't be more proud of the Zips program for reasons beyond their on court success. Every player that's exhausted their eligibility in Groce's nine year tenure has left with at least one degree. Every scholarship player except one who finished his career with the Zips has become a professional basketball player for at least one year. Arizona, Duke, Michigan or another major conference team is likely to continue winning and add a National Championship trophy to its trophy case but I'd challenge any of them to match the above accomplishments. -

I think that's a common use of the term, but it is important to point out that the lawlessness with the Transfer Portal is the biggest issue.
