Are we without Evan for this one?
-
I love the very last frame of this video. The look of incredulity on Groce's face when talking to Frank Martin in classic. I sure wish I knew what they were discussing.

If it happens, this is tragic. Outside of Kent, Ohio and Miami are some of our best rivals. You think no one cares now?...wait until we have only directional Michigans, Buffalo and schools from three states away or on the opposite coast.

That style offense is what I've been wanting. High octane, lots of movement, lots of opportunities. Most teams won't be able to keep up, as we saw last night. We don't even have to shoot particularly well. Keep this style up.

Social media is the rumor mill that keeps on giving: associated speculations are that Ohio & Miami (together) and SBC are kicking tires with each other, as well as Toledo and MWC once the financial dust settles on NIU's transfer.

Out of reactions. This is a good evaluation of both of them. I really do think that both of them can find their own roles instead of taking each other’s minutes. I still hope barre can step up and contribute cause with his size it will eventually come in to play
-
From what I look around and see, Tarleton is 100% a possibility.
-
I doubt they're in the MAC for 3-4 Akron trips out there. MAC schools don't play each other every year and every other game is at home. Could be 8+ years before we make that trip 3-4x.

- Loved Sharron's defense. He seems to be pressing on offense. I've said it before, but I'd consider flipping him and Scott and bringing Young off the bench for a bit. He'll still get plenty of minutes, but I wonder if it may allow him to relax his game a bit. - Really nice game from Shammah. After Evan was ejected, he was one of the ones that really stepped up. I also noticed how calm he was throughout that incident. His veteran presence is huge for this team. - Evan was fantastic. He's such a natural athlete - I think he has the highest upside of anyone in the roster. I'd like to see him get starts moving forward - he has earned it. - Marvin gave us some really important minutes last night. What he lacks in size he makes up for in effort. He is tough as nails. I'd like to see him get 5-10 minutes every game. - I feel for Barre. His injuries have prevented him from finding his groove and now he is pretty clearly pressing. Groce/Ford seemed very frustrated with him on the play where he got it stolen away then committed a frustration foul. He never got back in. - Hope Oggy is at least developing in practice. I was/am excited about him - his game is raw, but you can see the enormous potential when he does play.

I heard they would forego TV money until a new deal is signed, but that would be only 1 year as the current deal is about to expire. Also, I'm not sure how the CFP pool money would be split. Also, it's probably not cheap to fly ~100 people to Sacramento and put them up in a hotel. $1 million could disappear rather quickly. Perhaps after 3-4 trips. I'll withhold judgement until I actually see the terms.

Very happy with the offensive effort. It was a good not great shooting night but I’m happy we’ve gotten to a consistent point. Even without the 39 FT attempts we would’ve probably been around 80 which is a good sweet spot without crazy fouls

Out of reactions but this hits the nail on the head. Conference expansion has been a disaster for the actual fans of the sport. Get rid of the conference names at this point, just call the MAC “league ten” since it’s the bottom of the totem pole. If we think no one in the community cares when we play schools like CMU, just imagine a year where Kent is a road game and we get a home conference schedule of: Western Michigan, Sacramento, Umass, and Ball State. I just hate everything about this. Who is next? Northern Arizona? Tarleton State? Gardner Webb?

Kalamazoo on a cold, Tuesday night in February. Trap game.

Here is a link to the highlights. Those refs must have been high on something to make that ejection. NCAAM Highlights: UMass at Akron (2/13) Watch Now https://cbs-sports.app.link/iTNUxQ2QK0b

15mm is more than a million for each member school (assuming it’s distributed to members). Also sounds like they are willing to forgo TV revenue money, which I expect to increase in general with the new deal coming up, and more if the Sacramento market is in the mix. Sac State has also been paying money for big name players who haven’t worked out in P5 which makes them intriguing to watch. A trip there every other year probably seems worth it to me.

“University Arena” hasn’t been too kind to us recently. We are 1-2 in our last 3 games up there

The NCAA wouldn't waive the waiting period for them and allow them to be an independent. Mountain West said no thanks. Now they're trying with the MAC. -
Injecting $15m into the conference is a nice consolation for being "devalued." Not sure how much more the MAC could've been devalued anyways; the MAC has been on a "joke" trajectory for a couple decades.
-
I’m not sure who would see this as a devaluation. I’d actually say there’s a good chance Sac State is using this as a stepping stone for the future. MAC schools have been losing their fair share of recruiting battles to Sac State for JUCO players over the past few years, for what it’s worth.

Because $15m is a rich buy in for the MAC and it gives the MAC an entirely new market for their new tv deal negotiations that will start soon. The current tv deal ends after the 2026-2027 season. Curious to see if this is the last of the additions or if they get even more aggressive. -
The downside is a devaluation of the league. Sac State joining would be worse than NIU leaving. The money isn't worth it.

The Zips are off to Kalamazoo Tuesday to face the Broncos. The Broncos are 8-16 heading into today's game at EMU. The Zips beat WMU 104-89 at the JAR last month.
