Yeah, I think Akron would be favored by 3-5 points on a neutral court right now.
-
I think that was a safe assumption before this. 😅

Not sure why it would matter for us when the last time Miami was the 1 seed. I'm more pointing out that our team is used to going to Cleveland without being the favorite and still winning. Although I'm not sure Miami is much of a favorite. If Akron and Miami do meet in the finals I think it would pretty much be a pickem game.

Whomever our Promotions Director is will not be working in the Atlanta Hawks organization any time soon.

This thread got your attention? 😂 Per @zippy5 suggestion, this is a new thread for a topic that came up in response to a comment from @ZipsFan31 asking about the Zips Fan Council announced on Dec 10: https://gozips.com/news/2025/12/10/general-akron-athletics-launches-zips-fan-council Now, if you choose to engage in this topic, just remember the wise words of @NWAkron 'Everything one reads on the internet and the speculation and assumptions that follow are always true' and the follow up noting there's a troll tied to this topic that is being fed...maybe referring to me?! Not sure, I simply responded to the question about the Fan Council with an admittedly snarky reply that maybe he'll get to it when he's done interviewing for the open AD job at Syracuse. I also shared that the relationship to John Groce in the midst of a likely Syracuse MBB search could be a feather in Goodrich's cap, as source mentioned to me that he was specifically playing this up. Worth noting, in the other thread there were a handful of reactions including @Hilltopper stating today he isn't getting the job and wasn't a finalist. That could very well be. I've heard and read an assortment of speculation, including that he has interviewed for and is squarely in the mix for the open AD job at Syracuse. To me, until the announcement is made on the new AD, anything can happen. Today Syracuse announced its new Chancellor, the first domino to fall...an internal guy that likely worked with and knows Goodrich. My perspective, whether finalist or not, hired or not, is his candidacy makes sense if you read his Akron bio -- he was a Deputy at Syracuse and his bio shares many specific highlights about what he did there that seems to matter to all programs these days...NIL, marketing, butts in seats and on the former Chancellors leadership team. Alas, here we are, cheers @zippy5, a dedicated thread as it plays out in the weeks ahead for those whose interest in this topic may be tangential. No matter, if he stays, which according to Hilltopper sounds likely, maybe we'll hear if the 'unsubstantiated' chatter garnered him a raise/extension in the near future (hat tip to those that follow the BOT notes), maybe we'll hear who made the Fan Council, and for sure we'll continue to #maketheclimb (cue the logos and fancy fonts)!

It's about money. Miami's look by the selection committee will be VERY quick if they have one loss and particularly fast if that loss is by a few possessions or more.
-
Miami has not been the tournament top seed since 2004-2005.

The thing is that's subjective. I don't think anyone can really argue that Miami's résumé is at least on the bubble and deserves a look. From there it just depends on how one weighs things. That's the problem with a committee picking the teams. Everyone has their own opinion and weighs things differently. What you might feel deserves more importance @clarkwgriswold might not or vice versa.

I love how quickly the sports world forgets about the cheaters and liars

Pearl is a cheater and liar. If the Zips were 33-1 with Miami resume, Id want them in the tournament.

Thank you. We have a troll on here and a few continue to feed him. -

I remember Jim Brown back in the day saying something to the effect that Jim Boeheim had to be cheating in recruiting as there's no way the top basketball players would ever want to go to Syracuse, New York without an "incentive." I was in Syracuse 3 or 4 years ago. Other than the winter weather, it's not a bad city. -

Maybe. Syracuse is an awful place most of the year. Summit county is more desirable. Syracuse needs a coach who could reach into the deep recruiting pool that is NYC and get that program going. -
At what point do anti trust laws apply to P4 conferences? My guess is it's more likely to give them an anti trust exemption, see MLB, than not. What role would a collective bargaining agreement have in an anti trust agreement? I don't know these answers, but it seems as if we are approaching this point fast than I ever expected.

He is not getting the job. He was not a finalist. The only person with an Akron connection who was in the mix was Heather Lyke. But that seems unlikely now. http://Complaint alleges Lyke contributed to ‘culture of intimidation' at SU https://share.google/Zdhpf4NGDFCpKV9vR -
Too bad I didn't see those odds before the game. Not sure why CSU would be +1.5 (or even -1.5) when they were at home and had twice as many conference wins as IU-Indy.

Give it a few more years of the B1G spanking the SEC and then some senator from Alabama or Louisiana will make reform a priority. Just look at how involved the Louisiana Governor was in the recent coaching change. It's an easy way for them to gain favor with their constituents without having to do a whole lot.
