  2. He can be unhappy but Pearl is not wrong. Miami (or Akron) probably would finish in the lower half of the Big East conference.
  3. Sure we are. Last season was the only year this senior class has had the #1 seed in the MAC tournament. I imagine in many of those years few had us slotted into the field a week before the tournament.
  4. Not exactly a "Portal Departure" but Defensive Line coach Leonard has departed for Marshall university. I don't know if they have named a new d line coach yet or not but I don't certain players are going to be getting 700 snaps this upcoming season
  5. We're not used to this, are we. Think of it as bulletin board material..
  6. Today
  7. Miami AD unhappy with Bruce Pearl- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/48083375/miami-oh-ad-blasts-pearl-disrespecting-unbeaten-redhawks
  8. I'm a big LeBron fan but I'll admit he is kinda... eccentric. (He was world famous as a teenager so it's understandable). When KD left for Duquesne LeBron wrote a letter to UA endorsing his former high school coach Dru Joyce Sr. for the job. When Dru was passed over he felt disrespected & I think that's when LBJ put some emotional distance between himself & UA. Hopefully he gets over it. I'm crossing my fingers he moves back to Akron (at least part time) after he retires & gets involved in the community like his high school friends Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, & Willie McGee have done. Those guys could be living in condos on a beach somewhere but they're all involved in various aspects of STVM/iPromise enterprises. (So are Josh & John Williams, btw.) Yeah. The poor iPromise kids largely come from... suboptimal... home environments so though they've been given every publicly-funded academic advantage known to man they still have failing academic progress ratings. LeBron also built very nice, new condos for the families on the corner of Maple & Exchange but the families aren't taking care of them, as there are already holes in the walls & often-broken windows as well as homeless sneaking in to sleep (& defecate) in the hallways 🤦‍♂️. A young lady was just shot & killed in there a week ago 😕
  9. I think I like playing Kent on the penultimate week of the regular season as opposed to the final week/game. Miami's got two potentially tough games this week in Toledo & Ohio, while we have what should be (🤞🤞) two easier matchups cruising into Cleveland. Miami's next two weeks could potentially look like: Toledo, Ohio, UMass, Ohio, Akron (🤞) If they don't lose at least one of those games, then 🫡 to them
  10. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. 🤷‍♂️
  11. At last count, there has been only 1 student earn a degree from this program. The I Promise institute at Infocision has been empty for a couple of years.
  12. It looks goofy, but I honestly don't hate the fact that they re-seed after the opening round.
  13. NIU is going to be a welcomed addition.
  14. Speaking of odd brackets check out the Horizon League.
  15. I think Miami has a message board you can use.
  16. It's March 2 and that means bracketology projections are coming out: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2026/02/28/march-madness-bracket-predictions-bubble-seeds-ncaa-tournament/88848521007/ (Miami as 11 seed) https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/march-madness-bracket-predictions-2026-ncaa-tournament/278bf37a68ad4dd190d1dc50 (Miami as 10 seed) https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/bracketology/ncaa-bracketology-2026-march-madness-men-field-predictions (Miami as 11 seed) Miami as a bubble team: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/47809690/bubble-watch-mens-ncaa-tournament-march-madness-bracket-predictions-2026#MidMajor Work to do (6) Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (MAC) Updated: Feb. 28, 8:06 a.m. The MAC hasn't received multiple bids since 1998-99 -- fittingly, the same year Wally Szczerbiak led Miami (Ohio) to the Sweet 16 after knocking off Washington and Utah in the first two rounds. Could history repeat? Miami survived a real scare against Western Michigan on Friday night, rallying from down eight in the second half to prevail on Trey Perry's game winner and remain the sole remaining unbeaten team in Division I. The forecast models don't quite know how to handle the RedHawks, though they rank inside the top 40 on résumé, the committee has never excluded an eligible team with fewer than four losses in a non-pandemic season, and Miami (Ohio) made the field as an at-large team during a recent NCAA-run mock selection exercise. It is true that the RedHawks are a mid-80s team in the predictive ratings (Akron actually still ranks higher in the MAC) and had just the 321st-hardest schedule in the nation. But wins are wins! They are now only two away from an undefeated regular season, which the major forecast models give around a 60% chance to happen. https://www.thechampaignroom.com/illinois-fighting-illini-basketball-news/52142/tcr-bracketology-10-0-illini-enter-march-searching-for-answers-fighting-illini-ncaa-big-ten On bubble watch, Miami (Ohio) needed a buzzer beater against a bad Western Michigan team to maintain their undefeated season this year. If they slip up in the MAC tournament, a very real possibility as John Groce’s Akron team is a very good mid-major again, it will bring up one of the more interesting bubble cases we have ever seen. No team with fewer than three losses has been left out of the tournament since it went to 64 teams. However, Miami has only beaten one top 100 opponent all year (Akron), has the 347th best Strength of Schedule and has predictive metrics in the seventies and eighties. Personally, I will put them in the bracket, most likely in the first four in Dayton, but I have no idea how the committee will handle it. Here is hoping that if they make the bracket as either an at-large or an automatic qualifier, that they do the world a favor and take out a team like North Carolina. AI worked very hard to find a bracket with Akron: https://www.dratings.com/predictor/bracketology/#:~:text=Table_title: Bracketology – 2026 NCAA Tournament Seeding,| Team: Akron | Conf: MAC* |
  17. Kent teaches them what not to do.
  18. Fashion school.
  19. He provides a lot of money for UA scholarships through the I Promise LJ Family Foundation (https://www.lebronjamesfamilyfoundation.org/i-promise-institute/#university-of-akron) But I know you're talking about sports and I agree it would be nice if said billionaire could make a life-changing contribution to the athletic dept.
  20. $1 beers is an incredible deal. Kind of sad not even that can get a few hundred people to show.
  21. OMW in the morning!
  22. https://www.riverhounds.com/news/2026/03/02/mitch-budler-signing/ …Budler, 23, was a four-year starter for the Zips, recording 36 clean sheets and allowing only 65 goals across 76 starts on his way to being a two-time Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and a Third Team All-American as a junior in 2024. With Budler in goal, the Zips won the 2022 Mid-American Conference regular season title and reached the NCAA Tournament three times, advancing all the way to the Elite Eight last fall. “Mitch is a first-year pro out of the University of Akron with tremendous upside, and we believe he’ll make significant strides this year working under goalkeeper coach Jon Busch,” Sporting Director Dan Visser said. …
  23. Won't be too difficult to find matches. Not sure what this says about me that I'm actually watching this game. Btw, no Josiah Harris for CSU. Not sure if he got hurt in their last game. This is a really pathetic basketball game. CSU was up by 14 and are only up by 3 now after they turned it over on an inbounds violation for running on the baseline without a previously made basket. 3 straight turnovers by CSU on inbounds plays.
  24. I think we'll need a link with a source to discuss this further. And then probably in its own thread
  25. If someone broke the microphone of the woman who does the Zips on-court MC-ing, would the fine be similar? Asking for a friend.
