  1. Past hour
  2. I guess LeBron too lol
  3. Today
  4. Dwight Smith had a Super Bowl interception TD, Chase Blackburn has 2 Super Bowls, and Domenik Hixon has 2 Super Bowls and was a major reason why Fryer and Getsy had great stats. Hixon should honestly get the statue. I was in college during his years, even cheered a football season when Frye and Hixon played together. Hixon was a beast. Statue worthy for sure.
  5. one of Miami's "good" wins was against Wright State, who lost at home to a "not good" Cleveland State squad. that should move him down to 341.
  6. The lady zips have added 5 transfers.....several of them from Big East schools....
  7. Maybe he's more busy than Maxx Crosby.
  8. Yesterday
  9. Nice story on Miami, but doesn't give enough Akron credit (steel sharpens Steele 😉), doesn't even mention the very close loss in Oxford and talks about the last team before Buffalo getting and votes in the AP ranking being Kent in 02. While correct, the 12-13 Zips team was ranked briefly in the coaches poll. Too much glorification for a team ranked 339 out of 365 in strength of schedule.
  10. Exactly, well said.
  11. Maxx Crosby is at the top of his career at the moment and still makes time for EMU. People find time for the things that matter to them. He doesn't even give Akron a shout out on social media or anything. Even LeBron does that 1-2 times a year and he didn't even go to the school. I'm not saying this to specifically lash out at him. He's free to live his life as he wishes. He just doesn't seem all that invested in Akron football, which is okay, his choice.
  12. Honestly, no thanks. I would rather have a statue of Charlie Frye or someone different. Like others said he doesn't seem to care about Akron athletics and isn't even the first person I think of when I think Akron football.
  13. Maybe he's busy?
  14. Anybody want to pony up to try to get him a statue outside Infocision?
  15. You would think they would do everything possible to try to include him? Maybe he wants nothing to do with the school? Maybe somebody pissed him off? If I were JoeMo I’d be begging him to have some presence with the football team. He’s an NFL hall of famer!
  16. Finally seems they are getting quality players! Hopefully good results looming
  17. Thought that internally too
  18. First time active this year. One step at a time! We need to get a blow out while they still have some injuries so he can get some minutes.
  19. "The Zion Williamson of the Zips"
  20. Barley House, at least the last time I was there, isn't really setup to be a sports bar. There are TVs hung around, but there are tons of blind spots and its challenging to watch multiple games at once if you wanted to do that. I don't know why they they don't put a huge projector screen on the stage with the game on. IMO that would greatly improve the viewing experience. I agree that business has been horrible for a number of years. I'm surprised they're still surviving after the corporate offices like Huntington and other went remote/hybrid. Lunch rush seem to be what kept them alive before. The rent and facilities on a place that size can't be cheap. In reality something like a scaled down pins or Wild Eagle Saloon would be good for the area as then maybe it could attract people downtown. There really is no incentive to stop into Barley House unless you're in the immediate downtown area. Even then there are better options (Lockview, Luigi's, Spaghetti Warehouse, etc.).
  21. At the same time UMass has beaten Toledo, Boston College, and Florida State. I agree they're not as good as the rest, but they can still be competitive at times.
  22. I thought Baby Huey was decent in the paint when they got him the ball. As I see it: Tier 1: Miami; Zips; PCCC Tier 2: BG, Toledo, OU Tier 3: Buffalo; UMass (maybe with Freitag they squeak into Tier 2
  23. I will say I think the top 7 teams in the MAC are a class above the rest, the 8 seed will probably be Umass or a directional school. The Thursday games all will be pretty competitive, I think the 1 seed will have a significantly better matchup than the 2 seed though
  24. I don't know how many people caught it, but after the WMU game they interviewed Bowen on the radio. He brought up the possibility of getting some kind of waiver for an extra year of eligibility and Joe goes "Hopefully at Akron" and Bowen responded "Absolutely, I love it here these guys are the first ones to ever give me a chance at regular playing time"
  25. The watch party for the Arizona game was terrible, they have grown accustomed to the place being half empty or less since covid probably. Our group got sat at a table with a view of only 1 TV and it wasn't even on. They are severely understaffed and so many items on the menu are sold out, the waitress even said "yeah we always are out of a bunch of things on the menu". I hate to be so critical of a downtown business, I think downtown Akron needs places like this, but in its current state it isn't helping. I'd say it would be better off having this at lockview and they have a capacity of maybe 100. And also, any college cup match or march madness game should have a watch party in the JAR. The ones in 2018 were awesome and I wish they'd do it again. That's my rant for the day, looking forward to the game on Friday
  26. I just checked the roster for last night's game and it looks like Freeman was active for the Timberwolves. He did not play because it was a close game but maybe he will finally get a chance to play for them: Enrique Freeman: DNP – Coach's Decision Rob Dillingham: DNP – Coach's DecisionLeonard Miller: DNP – Coach's DecisionJohnny Juzang: DNP – Coach's DecisionJoe Ingles: DNP – Coach's DecisionTerrence Shannon Jr.: Inactive - Injury/IllnessRocco Zikarsky: Inactive - G League - Two-Way
  27. Feels like it’ll also depend on the transfer class. Tavari, Amani, Shammah and Evan graduating will free up a ton of “cap space” in the Wentz fund. So I’m expecting us to be pretty active
