Not directly, but indirectly. The athletic program relies on institutional support to make up any shortfalls in the athletic budget. If we have to come up with an extra $1 million that wasn't budgeted before where do you think if would come from? If no booster steps up it would likely need to come from the general fund.

People act like it is their money being spent and if it was i would support that argument 100% but it isn't. not at all. the majority of people on here i believe want the team to win but others just come on here to complain and would never be happy. it's always the same thing. and on the two occasions that akron has won they say nothing at all. but the first mistake and instantly the come out with "where's the guru? ". doesn't matter if it is a bad play call or a penalty or an interception it's always the same "fire joe"... it's boring

Make sure to check out the Zips men's basketball Instagram today. It has pics of the players in their first year and now. They're great, especially to see how kids like Amani and Tavari grew up.

This is even above the ADs head. The University is in financial distress. We're financially incapable of competing in FBS any longer. The cost to compete has grown exponentially over the last 5-10 years. In that time our enrollment has been nearly cut in half. Even as an Akron fan I can't support throwing away more taxpayer money to support a team that has no chance of competing. This isn't the NFL. There is no billionaire owner to eat the cost.

We are making progress. We are losing small. The alternative is paying nearly $1M to start over, likely with the additional cost of losing big for a few years. Been there, done that. Like I said, Joe's fire in the post-game interview was encouraging. He's holding himself accountable and he has the guys on the field playing hard. The mistakes are still there, but they are progressively decreasing. A 6-6 season is realistic. I think nearly all of us would have taken that before the season started.

some nfl player that this generation never even heard of or some young coach that no one ever heard of or some high school coach that no one ever heard of that will suddenly fill the stadium and bring in top quality recruits and while you are at it pay joe a million dollars that the school doesn't have to leave, better yet scrap the entire football program all together and maybe just maybe you won't find something to bitch about, then again you probably will
