I am curious as to why they aren't playing at FirstEnergy Stadium–Cub Cadet Field. Why would a semi-pro team want to play on artificial turf with football and lacrosse lines on it when it does not have to? Maybe the maintenance costs at FirstEnergy Stadium–Cub Cadet Field were too high?

Don't really know where to put this. But chalk up a few more calendar days that Infocision will be programmed with Akron City FC making the move from SVSM

2026 Zips in the Pros
Reslife4Life replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
We've got soccer coming to Infocision! -
I don't think anyone is officially eliminated yet but some teams are basically done, especially EMU as they are the only team with 12 losses so far. They would need to win their last two games and have Buffalo lose their last three. The two teams do still play each other which helps EMU slightly.
-
As much as we all would have liked to have been Miami this year, the fact that they continue to do well reflects well on the conference and continues to get publicity. The CBS article I linked talks about their chances of making it as at large, but Akron gets a number of mentions. If we end up meeting them in the final of the tournament and beat them, that's going to reflect very well on the Zips. There will be a lot of talk about them knocking off Miami and making the NCAA tournament 4 out of 5 years.
-
Is anyone officially eliminated yet? I thought ball state was out when we beat them but now they are back to 10th place. Buffalo plays at CMU this weekend, and if CMU wins then they are in position to make it to Cleveland. I really hope NIU loses this weekend and it can seal their fate that senior night will be their last ever MAC game

If they bring it back maybe you can get another Matthew Wilson bobblehead to complete your collection.
-
Because the MAC has 13 teams this year, UMass only has two games remaining. They're off March 6th, the final night of conference play.
-
Me wearing my grab bag Bowden Football Camp t-shirt as I mowed was not a good look for the program.
-
I heard that they don't get nearly as much gear from Nike as they did from Adidas and that's why they haven't had it the last few years. Simply not much surplus to be sold.
-
This could be a much different game. KSUcks won't be ice-cold from behind the arc & they'll have Whaley back, who hit the game winner last night vs. CMU. We've beaten KSUcks 6 times straight 🤞 At the JAR it looked like we were in their heads 🤞🤞

Similar in that respect to the Toledo game last year at Toledo. Zips won for the first time in a long time at Toledo but blew a big lead and gave up 60? points in 2nd half. Won by 7 but Groce was as angry as he was tonight.
-
Halcovage shouldn't have played Freitag. he got bumped in the end at the end of game. he staggered to bench holding his head. looked like he was going to pass out.
-
This team broke the game open in the 2nd half when they went 8 of 10 from 3 point range. When this team shoots the ball well from the outside they look really good. In the first half they were 1 of 10 from 3 point range but their inside game kept them in the game. The Zips would have 3 more offensive rebounds if the 3 point shooters would follow their shots. The short ball comes right back to them but they just stand still. Finally, Groce looked upset that Buffalo was pressing in the last 30 seconds. The Buffalo coach was gung ho on keeping the press. I thought Groce wanted Scott to shoot the ball at the end instead of holding it. Groce gave the Buffalo coach a quick handshake and moved on quickly.

Idk how a 14pt win can annoy me but they find a way to do. Just shows you how much the expectations have risen
-
I just have to hope that the best head coach in the MAC and his staff fix the problems.
-
Kent slops their way to a lot of wins. I do not like a potential semifinal game with them. Need to crush their confidence Friday night.
-
The Zips head to Portage County Friday night to face the 21-7 Flushes. The Flushes are coming off of a last second 83-81 win over CMU. Delrecco Gillespie continues to lead PCCC. He is third in the MAC in scoring at 18.8 ppg and leads the league in rebounding at 8.6 rpg. The Zips handled PCCC earlier in the season in the JAR, handing them a 69-52 loss on a night PCCC went 1 for 23 on three pointers.

That was my concern when watching it as well.
-
Things would have gotten really interesting had CMU not choked away a 7 point lead with ~3 minutes left.
-
I also liked his comment that in the last 5 minutes they were "an embarrassment to Naismith." LOL. I was happy when Buffalo went to the press as I thought it was a nice opportunity for the Zips to get some work in against pressure. Now I am worried it exposed a flaw other teams will exploit.
-
Groce not happy at all on the postgame. “I told the coaches I don’t want to hear anyone say I should shorten practice”

Zips living on the Edge?
