At the same time UMass has beaten Toledo, Boston College, and Florida State. I agree they're not as good as the rest, but they can still be competitive at times.
-
I thought Baby Huey was decent in the paint when they got him the ball. As I see it: Tier 1: Miami; Zips; PCCC Tier 2: BG, Toledo, OU Tier 3: Buffalo; UMass (maybe with Freitag they squeak into Tier 2
-
I will say I think the top 7 teams in the MAC are a class above the rest, the 8 seed will probably be Umass or a directional school. The Thursday games all will be pretty competitive, I think the 1 seed will have a significantly better matchup than the 2 seed though

I don't know how many people caught it, but after the WMU game they interviewed Bowen on the radio. He brought up the possibility of getting some kind of waiver for an extra year of eligibility and Joe goes "Hopefully at Akron" and Bowen responded "Absolutely, I love it here these guys are the first ones to ever give me a chance at regular playing time"

The watch party for the Arizona game was terrible, they have grown accustomed to the place being half empty or less since covid probably. Our group got sat at a table with a view of only 1 TV and it wasn't even on. They are severely understaffed and so many items on the menu are sold out, the waitress even said "yeah we always are out of a bunch of things on the menu". I hate to be so critical of a downtown business, I think downtown Akron needs places like this, but in its current state it isn't helping. I'd say it would be better off having this at lockview and they have a capacity of maybe 100. And also, any college cup match or march madness game should have a watch party in the JAR. The ones in 2018 were awesome and I wish they'd do it again. That's my rant for the day, looking forward to the game on Friday

I just checked the roster for last night's game and it looks like Freeman was active for the Timberwolves. He did not play because it was a close game but maybe he will finally get a chance to play for them: Enrique Freeman: DNP – Coach's Decision Rob Dillingham: DNP – Coach's DecisionLeonard Miller: DNP – Coach's DecisionJohnny Juzang: DNP – Coach's DecisionJoe Ingles: DNP – Coach's DecisionTerrence Shannon Jr.: Inactive - Injury/IllnessRocco Zikarsky: Inactive - G League - Two-Way

Feels like it’ll also depend on the transfer class. Tavari, Amani, Shammah and Evan graduating will free up a ton of “cap space” in the Wentz fund. So I’m expecting us to be pretty active
-
Scholarship limit has been increased from 13 to 15, which is equal to the max roster size. There really is no need to track scholarships anymore for that reason.

That Kent-Miami game was ELECTRIC. Great crowd. Miami traveled very well. It definitely looked every bit of a sell out. Kent struggled in the paint which I wasn’t expecting. By the end of the game Miami was crashing every possession and nobody could stop it. That was some peak mid major basketball. My ears are ringing.
-
I think hopping frog would a cool host. They have great beer
-
I went to the Kent game last night so I missed this but I’m watching the replay now. Happy to see we dominated early and never really let up. Even if Buffalo had its top scorer out we’ve struggled to do that

https://x.com/AkronEcho/status/2013959871675183179 Halligan with 7 points last night. Does he get put on scholarship next year?
-
Akron is 58 in kenpom and Miami is 90. That tells the story.
-
Why do you say that?
-
I agree there is no particular team that scares me moreso than others. There are a lot of great players in the MAC this year though that can get hot and take over games. It could be a wild weekend in Cleveland.
-
It would be nice if we could get Chabi back for Kent. They have two really good bigs and its not like our interior defense and rebounding is a strength even when fully healthy.
-
Let Miami keep winning. It'll make our win in Cleveland look better. Does seeding really matter? I guess we'll see how these next three games work out but no one really worries me to be honest. Of course anything can happen in Cleveland but there's no one that I feel like we need to be on the other side of the bracket of at this point
-
Well it's on a Friday night and you can count on it otherwise being empty. Places like The Score, Euro, and Manny's probably will attract more catering to the youth and blasting whatever music they're listening to these days. Not sure where else you can really have it. Edit: I wouldn't attend regardless.

The watch party at barley house is interesting. I wonder if that is a Goodrich thing or who decided to have that. I think it’s great to have a watch party for a big road game, but the barley house should not host another zips basketball watch party 😂
-
Kent is very undisciplined.
-
Second time in less than a week that someone had Miami beat and choked it away.
-
Kent is +19 on the boards going into OT. What a choke job.

Athens awaits the Zips Friday for am 8:00 p.m. game with the 11-9 Bobcats. The Bobcats are led by 6'2" senior guard Jackson Pavaletzke who leads the team in scoring (17.4 ppg) and assist (4 apg). 6'8" senior forward Aiden Hadaway is second on the team in scoring and first in rebounding at 14.1 ppg and 7.6 rpg. The natives are restless in Athens with Boals given the up and down nature of their season. The Zips have lost their last three games in the Convocation Center. There's also a watch party at the Barley House.
-
I wish both could lose. Really thought Miami was done, but it looks like they will pull another win out of their butts.
-
Miami isn't Top 25 good. They'll falter to others. I don't want anybody in PCCC to have a smidgen of happiness. Kent choked. OT in Portage County.
