To be fair I remember there being talk about Utomi being a scorer but also a defensive liability. I don't think he is a defensive liability any more. That may take a little away from offensive production. Both Utomi and Ivey are hard workers, stuck around when others bailed, and are key cogs on this years team. Whether they are the best fit for this current system under Groce or not I have nothing but respect for both of them.4 points

That sequence was worth the price of admission alone. There was nobody within 15 yards of him when he was rudely rejected and knocked on his butt by the rim. I was fearful that Spencer would call the rim for a flagrant 2 but alas he swallowed his whistle. I replayed it over and over and it got funnier each time. Granted, I am easily amused but that missed slam was of the epic variety.2 points

We are not great in a half court offense. Seems like we're much better on the run, but I feel like we slow it down just because we want to play a slower game.. let them run and you can still D it up. I do worry a higher paced game would get to us trying to go 3 straight days in Cleveland with a thin bench.2 points

More Eman. Less Diak, he has no idea what to do with the ball. It is great to be appreciated. Thanks roomies.2 points

Nobody tell akronzips71 that we scored 90+ with only 4 points from the center position. He won't believe it2 points

Wow, where's that offense been all year? Let's hope Groce was right that the shots would eventually start falling. Great finish for Jimond. I went up to his dad at half, congratulated him on his son's accomplishments and told him how much we've appreciated Jimond in his time at UA. I'll sure miss that kid next year.2 points

I was shocked by this game. Jackson was firing on all cylinders. For whatever reason Bowling Green did not clog the lane and Jackson drove to the basket and was hitting his floater. He is quick enough to beat his man but usually he runs into a traffic jam in the middle. Tonight the lane was open. WE finally were hitting our 3 points shots. Great finish for Jimond. What better way to end the game than with a dunk and a 3 pointer. Was by far the most entertaining game all year. You knew it was going to be our night when Jimond banked a 3 and Daniel had a 3 ball go in that hit the rim 5 times. E man was a beast blocking shots. He was an intimidating factor all night. Great game and a real team effort.2 points

Well, that's the way to respond to Saturday. Great job by Groce and the team to get up and ready for this one. Pedal to the floor for 40 minutes. Friday is going to be interesting.2 points

I pulled the below off the Zips facebook page. The women's team needs to win 1 of its last 2 to clinch a 1st round home game or needs EMU to lose one of its last 2. It seems highly likely we'll have a double header. I haven't made it out to a women's game this season, but I'll try to get there before half-time to my support if they do indeed clinch. I encourage others to do the same.1 point

Can't believe Kent is in line to head straight to CLE. Damn the great atmosphere - I enjoy The Q FAR more when it's devoid of Pantone color 'Kent State Pee Yellow' and the curmudgeons who like to cover themselves in it. Dismissing the OU game as outside of our defensive effort bell curve, I'm looking for our guys to gift Kent one more home game. Same 'D,' have enough guys deliver on offense and we're good.1 point

Congratulations to all of the soccer zips that made the deans list in either the fall or the spring https://gozips.com/documents/2019/3/5//2018_Dean_s_List.pdf?id=136781 point

Hard to tell exactly what the dunk was like with it sped up, but my initial thoughts are that's a horrific T. It reminds me of the T Zeke got against NDSU at home when he dribbled the length of the floor and gained too much speed, needing to hang on the rim for a second to prevent a backflip.1 point

This is where I am with the two of them. Of course I want them to succeed, for both themselves and the team. But for being loyal to UA they can do no wrong in my eyes.1 point

I watched the replay on ESPN+ after getting home last night. Like 1981Grad stated, what a great way for Jimmond to end Senior Night, with a breakaway dunk & a 3-pointer. It sounded like the JAR responded appropriately. I was shouting in my living room at midnight! I'm going to miss Jimmond.1 point

Yeah, with an unbalanced schedule the 1st tie-breaker should be conference SOS. Akron played a much tougher MAC schedule than NIU did so Akron at 8-10 who had to play UB, BG, CMU, and Kent 2x should be viewed better NIU playing WMU 2x.1 point

I just went through all the permutations for the last week that matter for the Zips seeding and I couldn't find any scenarios where they finish higher than fifth nor lower than eighth. So it looks like a guarantee of a first round at home but you don't want that 8th seed to run into Buffalo in the quarters.1 point

Nice missed dunk by Lillard. Ohio high school basketball fans will remember him as the guy who got called for a technical in the state championship game for hanging on the rim that gave the opponent the ball and free throws to tie the game and take it to over time where they won1 point

Groce should have benched LCJ weeks ago. It might have been the wake up call he needed. It seemed to be what he needed. We scored 49 against OU. We already have 44 in the 1st half against BG.1 point

You can tell who got chewed out after Saturday. Very fun first half. Riak and EMan are fantastic so far, LCJ looks way, way more under control. Can we finish? Million dollar question - all season.1 point
