Headline of the day from the New York Post- Coronavirus conference canceled in New York because of coronavirus4 points
-
Those that know me well know I can't stand the MAC and wish we could leave Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher is a Homer who has NEVER defended us and this conference and this puss move makes us look even more inferior to other Conferences. I am currently watching UMBC play Vermont in the American East Tournament. What an embarrassment this has been. Mike DeWine is a Puss too. Ohio Deserves better.4 points

So basically, our basketball game will look like a Tuesday night Akron home football game from this past season.3 points

Wash your hands to the tune of Akron Blue & Gold. Helps keep off the PCCC bacteria, so it should be able to tackle COVID-19.2 points

Screenshot this and copyright it. This is gold. "What if I told you a media-driven overreaction emptied every arena in the nation?"2 points

Thanks @TennZip I'm out of "likes" at the moment but will "like" your post when I can. “I JUST KNEW I WAS GOING TO END UP PLAYING D1 SOCCER” “Going into my senior year, I still didn’t have any real offers. I had a few NAIA offers from smaller schools, but I just knew I was going to end up playing D1 soccer. I don’t know how I knew, and looking back, it’s kind of crazy. I just KNEW. And my coaches, especially Brian Quinn, really believed in me.” “During my senior year, I still didn’t have any D1 offers. And Quinn sent my highlight video to Akron. He really advocated for me. Quinn believed in me, and he knew I could play D1 soccer at a top program. Caleb Porter and the staff and Akron really trusted Quinn, so they gave me a look.” PREFERRED WALK-ON AT AKRON I asked Jake if he had “that feeling” when he went on a visit to Akron — the feeling when a player steps foot on a college campus and just knows this is the right school. Sarah Trent had that feeling. So did Sydney Sparks. Jake did, too. “I went on an official visit during my senior year. And, yeah, I knew it was the place for me. I loved it. They offered me a preferred walk-on spot on the roster. That means no athletic scholarship money, but I didn’t care. Akron is a huge D1 soccer program, and getting onto the roster was great. My grades in high school got me some academic money, too, so I got into the school and had some scholarship money.” Stay tuned for next week! SPOILER ALERT: HE WAS IN GOAL DURING A PK SHOOTOUT AGAINST JORDAN MORRIS! ... I'll comment that although that PK shootout didn't end in our favor, we got to that shootout because of Jake's stellar performance throughout that match, and our Zips shut out Jordan Morris that day. Also, for those who might not know, Brian Quinn is Aodhan Quinn's father.1 point

I can get on a plane, fly to California, and go to Disneyland but I can't watch a basketball game. Shaking my head.1 point

Funny he mentioned Clemson retaining their staff because last I checked nobody still wants their unpaid intern ?. Even I-Coach was good enough to land a position coach job after his disaster at Akron.1 point

Yes, please put me on that jury. I can hear that testimony now...People of the jury, the MAC and its member schools forced me to buy tickets and go to their basketball tournament and I walked through crowded streets to get there and was in contact with a lot of people that day who had absolutely nothing to do with the tournament. But, I got COVID 19. So, the MAC and its member schools owe me. Yeah, I'm going to cast my vote in favor of that plaintiff.1 point

Can I go if I wear a hazmat suit? The MAC is an absolute joke of a conference. I follow this team all season and can't even go to their playoff games. I hope the MAC and RM field house lose lots of money as a result. What a crap show. Gonzaga is a school in Washington where there are actual deaths yet they still get to play in their conference tournament game (in front of fans). 3 people in Cleveland contract the virus and DeWine turns into a pansy.1 point

Zips release- AKRON, Ohio – Earlier this evening, the Mid-American Conference announced that the 2020 Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio, March 11-14, will be closed to the general public. All games will be played as planned. As a result, the University of Akron department of athletics will no longer be hosting the fans pre-game rally at Pizza(216) Kitchen + Taphouse. "We fully support the health concerns and recommendations outlined by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today," Zips' Director of Athletics Larry Williams said. "At the same time, it is hard to describe how disappointed we are that all of our wonderful alumni, supporters and fans (especially NWAkron) are not going to be able to attend this special event in person. And, it is so very disappointing the student athletes will not be able to enjoy the passion reflected by the raucous crowds that always come out to support their Zips. Fortunately, there will be great television coverage for each game." Fans whom purchased tickets through the University of Akron have the option to contribute to the Z-FUND and men's basketball program or request a full refund. Tomorrow, the ticket office will contact ticket purchasers. Ticket purchasers may contact the C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office directly during regular business hours at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766).1 point

Absolute arrogance from DeWine. He pressured the conference. Feel so bad for the players. Especially the seniors. Will be hard to get them motivated for what will seem like a scrimmage.1 point
