  1. Penn State right now is first in the big ten with a 4-0-0 record. Wisconsin is 2nd with 3-0-1 and Maryland is 3rd with 3-1-1 record. A win against the Nittanys would also help the zips in RPI. Penn State is 22 in RPI right now. October 18 opponent Michigan is 2-2-1 in BTen and 44 in rpi Looking at MAC teams and current RPIS BGSU 24 Akron 32 (win over Pitt is really helping them as Pitt keeps knocking off high ranked ACC teams) WVU 38 GA State 47 NIU 58 Ga Southern 88 W. 4. I feel Arth has to make it to 4 wins this season to justify giving him a 4th season and even then he would be entering season 4 on the hot seat. I'm not sure he can make it to 4 wins without a win at Miami.

  5. Yup I was pleasantly surprised to see Gibson listed as a FR. Third year freshmen are pretty rare but with some action in 2019 and the covid year, he's got a nice mix of experience and a lot of eligibility left. Let's hope for the best

  6. He has had a strange journey so far. He got some starts in 2019...actually played very well in a loss to UMass. Then, he starts all 6 games of the "bastard" 2020 season, and really doesn't distinguish himself. Then gets leapfrogged by Kato and Irons. Definitely a credit to him that, when his number was called on Saturday, he wasn't disengaged...yukking it up with some reserve punter at the end of the sideline. Or pouting over his 3rd string status. He was ready when his number was called, grabbed the reins of the offense and led the Zips to an improbable second half offensive explosion. Hats off to him!

  7. Maybe this has already been posted elsewhere, but here is a nice story on Blake.

  8. Gibson's moxie reminds me of Baker Mayfield. He gets the whole team fired up.

  9. Don't bet the ranch that Noreen will have a job at the end of this season. She haas been a classic underperformed in the face of the best facilities in the conference, a fertile recruiting base in NE Ohio and good support from the AD. She has had 6-7 years of mediocrity or worse. She will be gone.

  10. We were giving him crap during the match, but Georgia State Panther's Matthew Fearnley is a good player. He also looks like he is not adverse to combat. Matthew Fearnley - 2021 - Men's Soccer - Georgia State University (georgiastatesports.com) Ask Danny Strachan about #10.

  12. Really! I saw an offense with what, -25 yds of total offense and no 1st downs in the 1st 1/4, put the D in a hole after hole. The D that hasn't shown up all season came alive yesterday. First and goal from the 1, and get a stop on 4 tries! I don't want to take anything away from Gibson, but I think the D should get the game ball. It could have been 50 to zero by half time. Coaching? When Arth talked about Gibson being in the mix back in August, people were sure he was delusional. After last year when we had a 200 yard/game rusher, and Gibson could hardly complete a pass, expectations for Gibson were zero! Someone recognized the potential and coached it up. Grandma saw some things on our line that she thought should be addressed. It is extremely rare at D1 to see lines on either side of the ball loaded with freshmen. There could be a lot of reasons that we saw changes yesterday. Injuries to former starters keeping them out, injuries to replacements that have kept them out, or coaching that has allowed some youngsters to progress faster than others. Winning cures everything. However, like Covid, immunity wears off. There better be a booster down the road! Four more booster shots will make Arth a saint. Most of us will be happy with 2. Go Zips

  13. Love that this is our exhibition game. Press Virginia will challenge our backcourt, presenting an opportunity to be forged by fire before we head into CBus for a game that actually matters. Additionally, our front court is slightly bigger than WVU's, and I'm excited to see if we can take advantage inside.

  15. After thoughts: if you're lacking in talent, your plays need to be more creative; if your players are young, they need some game experience where they learn, not decorating the sidelines; coaches are going to play their recruits (good or bad) because not doing so bruises their egos; once a poor coach picks his darlings, he becomes blind to the depth chart until injuries force him to look at those players he passed over; exhausted players make mistakes, rotate often so the defense isn't sure who will get the call; instill the "10 yards in 3 downs" mindset; and finally, most coaches and men don't think grandmas know anything about developing a young team! Players will strive to become the players you make them believe they can become. It's the psychology of human nature.

  16. After the OU debacle and everyone having them most likely finishing 1-11 (me included), this was great for the team. They played hard and may have some life for the second half of the season. This will be the best bus ride the team has had in at least 3 seasons. Go Zips!
