Guess what! We won it at the free throw line... Yup, made 16 of 19 after missing 7 of first 8 FTs. Quite a turn-around.3 points

Waiting to see if this guy becomes available. I'd take 'em.🍊3 points

As you can see I like to use humor as a coping mechanism. On a related note, for the consolation game we are now down to me, Coach Groce and the camera man in attendance.2 points

I guess you could say that I'm tripling down since I'm heading back to the arena again today.2 points

MAC Championship, ACC coach of the year, offensive oriented, best available, success at FBS.1 point

I just want to give a shout out to the Zips Media person/team. They have had very little to work with all season but day after day, week after week, they put up posts on twitter and Instagram trying to keep people interested, motivated and engaged. Again a very challenging task given what they have available for content. Great work - Happy Thanksgiving all. Also saw for the first time yesterday Scott Van Pelt commentary called "Bad Beats". Seems like Akron football has several appearances this year and Akron basketball was featured when they lost to Ohio State.1 point

I enjoyed my experience over all. Hope to see the Zips back down this away again in the future. They might feel differently.1 point

Hang on, Zips. Get the monkey off your backs and move forward.1 point

Offense constipated to start the second half and Evansville hits a three to trigger another Groce TO. 33-23. Tribble gets to the basket just about whenever he wants to, but doesn't know what to do with it when he gets there. He just tosses it at the rim hoping it goes in. Cheese was a master of layups, I wish he would have shown Tribble his ways. There's zero finesse.1 point

That's the spirit. Akron Athletics said, "Hold my beer. What's this winning you want us to do?"1 point

We get a couple of huge letdowns in every Zips basketball season. Let's just hope we used ours up in Florida. On the bright side, the defense has been top notch. Marshall and their high pace D'Antoni offense should be a real test next week.1 point

I'm going to disagree with you on that point. Groce's teams are very fit and are built to run the floor. That's not why they are missing wide open 3s. Talent level, confidence, and attitude.1 point

In addition to that, Guthrie has a good relationship with Mark Murphy of the Packers. I’m not entirely sure if he would help recruit his QB Coach away from himself. However, Getsy clearly respects Murphy and the organization enough to go back for a second stint, so if Murphy gave a glowing recommendation, that works even more in Akron’s favor.1 point

I wouldn't want to be the support staff who forgot to pack the Zip's jump shot and left it back in Akron.1 point

I'd bet my left nut Arth would have won at least 3 games next year (likely more). If that's all our expectations are, he shouldn't have been fired. In my mind, the right guy will be able to at least flirt with bowl eligibility in year 1. These players have a lot of experience and will only continue to improve. The right coach should be able to keep the majority of talented payers and can bring in the right pieces to supplement our weaknesses. Its never been easier to turn a program around quickly with transfers now being immediately eligible AND getting an extra 7 scholarships a year to account for players who voluntarily enter the portal. We have the chance to bring in 32 new should-be quality players as a result.1 point

To all members, New upgrade is now complete. There is still some reindexing working in the background. I'm guessing it will be finished by the end of the day. Kind regards, ZipsNation Staff1 point

Progress is fighting for a bowl bid in 2022, and having a chance late in the season to get there. The nonleague schedule is rough, but the MAC East is the worst division in FBS. Don't necessarily have to get to the 6 wins, but not being eliminated from bowl eligibility with multiple games to play is the only way there will actually be tangible progress showing.1 point

For all the Trimble talk, which is important, Castaneda and Walton have to contribute. Castaneda looks to just be going through the motions without creating much. Walton has been completely invisible this week. That one is shocking to me, he’s been a productive college basketball player for a long time and his archetype fits in on this roster perfectly. It’s just not there. This is all just baffling. Maybe my expectations were way too high. I don’t know. But I’m quite upset right now.1 point

If I was an AD, keeping names out of the public would be my goal, especially after what happened at Tennessee with Greg Shiano.1 point

They may be aware of us, but that doesn't necessarily mean they value us as the brain-trust to help them pick a coach. George Thomas - "So Charles, what was your deciding factor in finding Clyde Kadittlehopper as your head coach?" Charles Guthrie - "Man I really liked what LZip and clarkgriswold had to say about Clyde while I was surfing ZnO last night, so I took a flier and gave him a call..." (No offense to you two, just picked names off the screen)1 point

Last time we were looking for a head coach the name I liked most was Joe Harasymiak, who made Maine a national player at the FCS level. I don’t think my mention of his name even got a comment in this forum and then he was quickly grabbed up by P.J. Fleck at Minnesota where he has since become the co-defensive coordinator. His currently salary is only in the mid $300k range I believe. Should this be someone the Zips at least look at? Everything I have ever seen written about his coaching had been extremely positive.1 point
