  2. I think you can remove all of the directionals and Ball State from any chance of being there at the end. Right now, OU and Toledo are at the top of the MAC, with PCCC, Akron, Buffalo a little behind, and BG and Miami not that far back. Any of those seven could beat the other on any given night and it wouldn't be an upset. I think Buffalo will eventually come around and be a factor in the standings, seedings and tournament. If I had to seed them today: 1. OU 2. Toledo 3. PCCC 4. Akron 5. Canada 6. BG 7. Miami 8. Ball State 9. EMU 10. NIU 11. WMU 12. CMU

  3. "Ire" is simply defined as anger. I was not angry. I am tired, sick and damn tired of this debate taking over forums. You'll note that this is apparently a popular view given the likes for the post. Apparently, you've taken it as a personal attack as you see the post as directed at you. That wasn't the intent as I actually agree with your position. I fear now that this "debate" has now become the second most frustrating series for this thread. To get things back on track, this weekend's MAC results: OU- 80, PCCC- 72 BG- 87 MIami 83 Ball State- 78, EMU- 82 Toledo- 94, NIU- 63

  7. If he was the starting QB for Reynoldsburg High School I saw him play at Upper Arlington to open this past high school season. He nearly willed the team to victory over what ended up being one of the best teams in the state

  8. I agree. I looked at the roster and it has changed considerably in the last week or two. Not too long ago, Gibson was on the roster, even after he committed to GT. Also, there are no Redshirt Freshman listed on the current roster. This will change since many of the athletes played less than 4 games. Scholarships are year to year, not 4 year deals. This is a fact that most fans do not know. Existing coaches typically do not pull scholarships since it will hurt their image and relationships, but new coaches who do not have any relationships with the players do so all of the time. Once spring ball is complete, I expect major changes to happen to the roster. It would not surprise me to see 20 scholarship players dropped, because they are not D1 players. They may have the option to stay as walk-ons, or they may be assisted to transfer to a DII or DIII school. I have had several discussions with players' parents who all comment that there are so many scholarship players who do not deserve to be on the team, or that they had only one offer, from Akron. I also heard that some of the parents questioned that their son got a D1 scholarship, but they were thankful. So, I would not put much trust and faith into the roster until the players are enrolled in the fall and the season begins. In Joe We Trust!!!

  9. Or is it selfish to want a player to risk a career-altering injury for the betterment of the team in a meaningless game, designed in the first place to make money for corporations/media/Universities/NCAA figureheads?

  10. A less selfish person could protect their future financial position by obtaining an insurance policy instead of bailing out on their teammates.

  11. I honestly despise this talking point. Why on Earth would you play in a meaningless football game, where you could accept all the risk for no possible gain? What incentive is there for a Player? I'm pretty sure 100% of your teammates would not care, when you're considering your own financial future. It's more PT to them. The teammates aren't really affected negatively, it's the fans who are. This is Capitalism 101. Don't take on lots of potential opportunity cost, for little to no opportunity gain.

  16. Hey, I like the staff. Don't get me wrong. I just feel like we're maybe over hyping up a lot of this experience a tad.

  17. Tremendous praise for him via a Google search. LSU, Wyoming, Kansas, and Pitt experience in recent years. Hardly misguided. The greatest coaches of all time had to come from somewhere, and that somewhere almost always includes being a GA at the beginning of their respective careers. I'm not saying we have the next Nick Saban or Urban Meyer on this staff, but I do believe we have the right guy at the top to identify and develop bright football minds & leaders. Coaching starts at the top, and JoeMo is about as good as it gets at the G5 level. If you look at the staff, the GAs are surrounded by quite a bit of experience. Fessler, for example, will be directly under JoeMo, and surrounded by Reno Ferri and Terry Richardson (multiple decades of experience). On defense, DeLattiboudere and Bell will be under Toth. Not to mention all of the experience on the staff includes P5. It's the perfect mixture of experience and youth in my opinion.

  19. LZlp, I have never knowingly met you, but at this time, I am so upset at you (in a good way). You just posted the note that I was working on and getting details. I cannot believe you beat me to the punch! 😀 Here are my brief thoughts. I will provide much more detail in the future after late signing day. My thoughts on needs for the remainder of the recruiting season are as follows: QB - 1 upperclassmen is needed as a transfer with the loss of Gibson, 1 recruit in Jennings, my guy is still Jankowski. I am not sold on Irons. RB - Norrills, Williams, both Freshman last year, I thought both backs showed promise and Norrills had some great moments this past season. Wiley adds some depth, and we get a first team D1 running back in Kellom. Watch his tape, he is fantastic OL- I agree, let's get one more transfer and 2 freshmen recruits. The young line this year of all freshmen was not good, but there is a lot of talent. One more transfer in addition to Banes gives depth, competition, and more time for the youngsters to develop. TE - with Brank and Ognenovic, we were good. Adding Banks allows Akron to run 12 or 13 packages with good talent. The coaches need to figure out how to utilize this talent. WR - I think we need one more transfer and 2 freshmen. I think the M's are gone, but I would like to get Qualls back with the listed newbies. DL - The biggest weakness of the team in 2021 and over the last few years has been the Defensive Line. Adding Robinson, Harper, and Jones should be fantastic. Rotate them with Fann, Hawkins, Proffitt, Sy, Wade, and Wilson, and we have depth and talent. Please get 2 freshmen for future growth. LB - If Bubba returns, we should be very good with him, Boateng, Behr, and Bischoff. Add in Terry, and 2022 should be fine. Need 2 freshman recruits DB - This position has been a weakness, but we have been playing youth. Add Threatt and Martin, and Akron should be competitive. Add 2 freshman. Punter - Slike, Kicker - Smigel Akron is close to being competitive in the MAC. I will be happy when we are competitive and winning in the MAC and can compete and win against P5 schools. Go Zips! LZlp - Love your posts and dedication. We need to meet in Lot 9 this year during the season. I throw great tail gate parties. In Joe We Trust!!!

  20. Per @Blue & Gold' list on the first page, we currently have: QB: 1 Jennings (HS) RB: 2 Wiley (T), Kellom (HS) WR: 1 Jacquez-Louis (T) TE: 1 Banks (T) OL: 1 Banes (T) DL: 3 Robinson (T), Harper (T), Jones (T) LB: 1 Terry (T) DB: 2 Threatt (T), Martin (T) Note I removed Dixon and Leopold. Their twitters or 247 may show as committed, but I don't see it happening based on the other recruits no longer having offers. How many more transfers do we think we get/need? I'd thinks something like 1 upperclassman QB, 1-2 OL, 1 WR, maybe 1 LB and 1 DB? With all of that, we're at 18 scholarships. Leaves room for up to 14 additional freshman. Something like 2 WR, 2 OL, 2 DL, 2 LB, 3DB is only 11. The new rules along with where the roster currently really gives the staff a chance to significantly improve this roster in one offseason, even with them getting started late.

  21. There's one thing I hate worse than losing to PCCC. It's a Covid policy debate in a sports forum. Maybe I am in the minority but I come to this forum to get away from a world where Covid policy and debates overwhelm the daily news narrative.

  22. I don't know what the cause of the mass exodus was/is, but I do know some people take longer than others to figure out that they are unhappy with a change in their environment and take action to improve their situation. For example, I hate the crappy winter weather in Ohio, but if I don't move south until summer it won't mean the motivation for the move wasn't the crappy winter weather in Ohio.
