  3. IDK if its because we are playing a better opponent or not, but this is a really good announcing crew for a ESPN+ game. Also, Kamarii Landers (true freshman), got man handled on that sack.

  5. Book it. January 1st can't come soon enough. It will be fun to start throwing down a few bucks here and there on the Zips.

  6. Like others have said, would like to see us compete today, and I think we will. Win would be great going into conference play, but just compete to show you can play against good G5 programs.

  8. Defense figured some things out. Offense got into the RedZone again. We got first half points. Only down 11 at the half. Need a stop coming out of the half. That would go a long way to maintaining momentum.

  9. First half points! Gotta take it. Left more points on the board so far but a great way to end the half.

  10. This offense cannot continue to make dumb penalties. That face mask is going to be a drive killer

  11. So the DE who had his foot on the line of scrimmage when the ball was hiked, got the sack. Hope Coach Tibersar is taking notes.

  13. Lulling them into a false sense of security. They are falling into the Zips' trap!

  14. Baaaadddd interception. Not sure how you don't see the safety help underneath that route.

  15. Let's just throw into double coverage. Then we'll be unsportsmanlike. Same system we used last season.

  17. Yeah, I hope they're energetic and ready to go. They've traveled a lot this past month and to top it off I saw on twitter that they had an awfully bumpy flight down there (one team manager was joking about it by saying he's never flying again). Hope they're amped up and ready to go come 6:00! Go Zips!

  19. Do they not realize that college football is very much a spoils system? It most likely means they all will be fired too when a more permanent coach gets hired to replace Herm.

  22. I said Akron bc why not? As someone mentioned in another thread, when I think of Liberty, I think of an upper echelon MAC team and I'd hope that we can hang with anyone in the MAC based on the # of P5 transfers playing under the MAC's best coach - Joe Moorhead.

  24. I believe you are correct that most of the apparent improvement in the OL over the last two weeks is a result of our opponents giving us a healthy dose of their pure vanilla defense.

  25. Word on the street is - Ravontae's scheduled to see his first Zips action on October 1st vs. BGSU. Long road back to the field for the kid. Hope he can stay healthy. He will be a force if he can avoid the walking boot.

  26. I would say a few factors off the top of my head unfortunately play into this: 1. Akron football has not been a very good product for a long time. I get ragged on by a few people I know, who are sports fans, for having season tickets to Zips football. However, they have admitted they would probably go to games if the Zips produced good teams, or at least competitive teams. Their losing ways for SO long has turned a lot of people off. If they start winning consistently, I think people would be more interested. 2. Ohio State. I hate to say it, but in Ohio, many children are Ohio State fans and grow up watching them with friends and family. Even if no one in their friends or family ever graduated from Ohio State, people are still bred to watch them. It's easy, they always win, get a lot of coverage, so forth. Kids go to Akron for an education, but many will stay in their dorm or go to a local bar on a Saturday and watch the Buckeyes play on Saturday, even though the Zips have a home game on campus. This is frustrating!! 3. Coverage by local media. It is non-existent and any articles written by ABJ feel forced sometimes. I think the fact that no one, including the local media or university, really even promoted the fact that people could get FREE tickets to the home opener is a sign of how much change needs to happen on that front. I need to get back to work or else I'd go into further detail on these points, but those are just some thoughts off the top of my head. My suggestion: Win, plain and simple. And push local promotion of the team.
