Zips finally figure out how to score touchdowns in the red zone and come from behind to win by a narrow margin of 31-28. Wife and I just moved back here from California. This is our first game in person in MANY years.

Too many egregious mistakes. Reminds me of the old Kent teams that consistently found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Got the second half to make amends. We’ll see what type of halftime motivational speech Joe instilled.

We gave them the game as much as they won it. This team can win a few games in conference play, but have to stop beating themselves. The staff would appear to still have multiple holes that need upgraded as well, but that wasn't all going to happen in one short offseason.

Why in the hell do we have a true freshman out there fielding punts when we have Shocky and Grimes as options? Not only did he turn it over, he tried to call a fair catch at the 3 yard line.

I don't think any DBs in college look for the ball anymore. Been driving me nuts for years now. 🙄

IMO that name makes a splash with a generation who can’t (won’t) sit in freezing rain on a Wednesday night. She was popular in the late 70’s early 80’s, 40some years ago. Had one hit in the 90’s. All great ideas and thoughts in this thread...well, except for the cheerleader suggestion. 😂 I think the U should have student input on how to improve attendance. Student reps. should be part of the U's marketing team, too. The U's existence is for them not us oldsters. Give them a voice, a horse in the race. Who would know better than them on how to light a fire under the student body?

Not sure where this would fit best, so I'll put it here. So damn cool, these clips give me chills! This era of Zips football just felt different. They were tougher, and grittier. Joe can bring that magic to Infocision!

I think it's a combination of things that will bring people to Infocision. First, to get the area football fans there you need to stop putting an awful product on the field. To get the rest of the general public there, you need a game day experience that will have the mommies and daddies telling their friends about what a great time they had. There shouldn't be a kid playing youth football in the Akron area that doesn't have a free ticket to a Zips game. The basketball experience is the perfect example of having only half of that formula. The program consistently puts a quality product on the court, yet the game day experience is a yawner. You can only watch middle aged men take court length putts, kids bouncing down the floor on hippity hop balls and kids dunking on a Little Tikes hoop so many times. The quality of the teams gets a larger percentage of seats filled than the football program but bring some ingenuity to the game day experience and the gaps would fill in. There must be marketing grad and undergrad students that would take some initiative. Also, talk to the Rubber Ducks staff. They see to understand the marketing side.
