  1. Hang in there GP1 because this is where Akron is heading starting in 2023. I think the MAC is going to place limits on these sacrificial pay games. The one P5 will include limits like no scheduling top 30 teams from outside your home state. Also a minimum of 6 home games.

  3. I'm going to ask this again like I do every other time you've posted this, and hopefully get an answer - why would Toledo want to schedule us OOC?

  5. I agree as far as how 'useful' the sacrifice games might be. Yes, they are a pay day. The vast majority of the time thats it. When teams like Akron are losing 3 out of their first 4 or 4 out of their first four fans such as we have lose even more inerest in the team. "Akron is 1-3 again, good night". The players get beat up, see Irons. What fans there are definitely stop following the team. Did Akron beating NC State,Northwestern or Syracuse suddenly cause casual fans to get interested? Having lived through all of those I can tell you it did not. One thing that might change the equation is that if the P5's went completely their own way and maybe actually got penalized by the playoff committee for playing 'cupcakes'. Then the rest of DI would have to reorganize and play more competitive games every week. Lets hope.

  6. Every Thursday at 6 I believe. Should be able to live stream on Akron Zips Facebook page or listen on 640 WHLO.

  7. Sunday's match was the first live action that I have seen since the Rubber Bowl. I was over stunned! The speed, precision, total dominance. I kept wondering, "were we that good, or was Northern that bad." That totally soothed Saturday's pain!

  8. I am also not throwing credentials or questioning yours, your a great poster & bring a lot to the table but a great head coach or person in general is open to listening, I’m not trying to change your opinion on any defense. I’m just saying no defense stays in a base or they get killed, need to be a hybrid to be able be flexible or the OC will dictate the game please don’t take personal edit i guess i did say it CAN be a great defense (can being emphasized)if you have the right personnel, meaning you have great S / LB’s that are versatile & can play both & Im not a big 3-3-5 fan but some have made it work sorry, maybe i missed my own point lol let’s move on

  9. Almost as impressive as some guy named Lil Nas X leaving a concert to take a massive dump the day before. Maybe Kent could bring in Lil Nas X to drop some Demons on the 50 yard line at halftime so the fans can really watch the diarr......errr, I mean money flow in.

  10. We haven't talked enough about how good Clyde Price looked at RB. He looks like a RB and has the leg strength to pull his legs through arm tackles (Idk if Cam has that kind of leg strength). He was doing a great job running behind his pads, getting some extra yards after contact, and falling forward. I've always thought that for RB give me a guy who's 5'9 & #200. But at 6'1" #220 Pryce is an absolute monster. Pryce may not have the breakaway speed or home run capability of Cam, but until we have a better OL we'd better stick with the bigger back who can give us a cloud of dust & 3 yards a pop.

  11. By the way, I'm all for it. Toledo is on the level that I'd like to see us schedule more of vs the ATM games. I just don't think we are all that appealing to them at the moment. Maybe in a few years.

  12. Everything you said is true. I always ask a basic question, "How does decision X by Athletic Director Y help the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general community around their school?". As it relates to college athletics, you can always replace Athletic Director with University President or Conference Commissioner. Whenever any one of these three people base any decision on money or "exposure" (whatever in the heck that is) or number of re-Tweets, they are not acting in the best interest of the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general community. The evidence is overwhelming they are NOT. What they are doing is either effing insanity or diabolically contrary to the interests of their employers. Sometimes I wish I lived closer to Akron and could go to more games....Then I realized by going to more games I would be enabling this insanity. MAC scheduling is absolute insanity and the Presidents of the universities have to get together, like the Presidents of the Sun Belt did, and put an end to the insanity. The ADs are not going to do it on their own because given the chance they will almost always act contrary to the interests of their employers. One P5, One FCS, One G5, Nine MAC. Less travel for the athletes, students, alumni and fans. More home games for the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general community. Better competition is better for the players. More entertaining games are better for the students, alumni, fans and general community. I could do this all day.

  13. Toledo and EMU are the only two teams that don't have a losing record - at 3-2. That's not good for business

  14. I respectfully disagree. The juice isn't worth the squeeze and being a sacrificial lamb year in and year out gets old. I'd be happy if Akron scheduled one per season, sometimes two, but that's it. I'd prefer one only per season. I think the MAC is starting to be looked at as the early season easy win schedule for these P5 schools. Kent had 3 hard games, we all know Akron's schedule, and the other MAC schools aren't any different. Sure, Kent hung with Georgia, but I doubt many new fans tuned into watching them play last weekend against Ohio. People have short memories. If Kent would have won, that would have been huge, but I bet most college football fans don't even remember that Kent hung with Georgia 2 weeks ago. Trust me, I want Akron to have respect. I want the MAC conference to be taken seriously. But each MAC school losing, sometimes getting demolished, in 3 early games per season against P5 schools is not the answer. I'm tired of it, frankly. I like the thought of a miracle each season, but Tennessee and MSU games were miserable. And just because I'm an Akron fan, who is in the MAC conference, shouldn't have to mean I just have to take it on the chin because the bigger schools deserves to have a win more.

  15. I get your point with Tribble but putting Maishe Dailey in the same boat as a Walton is a little misplaced. Maishe was a disappointment overall, but he contributed and played hard. I am looking forward to seeing how Tribble developed in the off-season. I really like his flexibility in that he can play the point or the two and plays defense hard enough to face up against the bigger wings.

  18. Joshua Bartels is another recruit from the Columbus Crew Academy he played all 90 minutes for Crew Academy U17 in MLS Next final and scored a goal. this is really shaping up to be an outstaning recruiting class. Keep up the great work in recruiting......coaches https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/philadelphia-new-england-win-mls-next-cups_aid50965 A penalty from Taha Habroune and an early second half finish from Joshua Bartels had Columbus up 2-0 50 minutes in to the final versus Philadelphia Union.

  19. I love how every year so many people on this message board wishfully throw random newcomers in the starting lineup over Tribble and he still earns the spot. Happened with Maishe and then again with Walton now we’re here again with Hankerson. The kid is a gamer who impacts winning in multiple ways yet you think a transfer from a bad team is going to take his job lol

  20. I wondered what the true share of sacks from OL vs DJ holding the ball too long was, as it’s not uncommon to read posters saying he’s holding onto the ball too long. 3.5 for OL vs 2.5 for DJ last game.

  21. I thought he did really well with what he was given. His one cut and get downhill style seems to be what this offense needs at this time. Honestly, I’ve been pleased with the majority of the transfer class. We weren’t going to hit on all of them, but the majority are contributing and seem to be progressing each week.

  22. This is good crap right here. I believe in this guy. He’s a great coach, a great guy, and is committed to building this program. It’s an uphill battle with a program that has been down for so long but I think he can do it. We all want immediate results but it’s a process. Everyone needs to grab a friend and drag them to the games, change is coming!

  24. Guywon Chong and Sam Tojaga are very different players playing different positions. The similarity is that they each bring stability to the Midfield. It is heartwarming to have Sammy back. I eagerly anticipate Guywon’s return next year.
