  1. You guys need to learn to just enjoy the moment. Whether Rique stays or goes is a subject for after the season. I'll tell you this, he loves playing so close to home.

  4. See what happens when GT actually talks to a coach? It could be "...hey roster, this could be you..." ...it could be a veiled dig at those who've left...it could foreshadow the handing-over of his framed jersey at the 2023 Senior Night...it could be nothing but an appreciation for his effort and loyalty...thank God there are message boards available to debate it. 😁

  6. I don't interpret it that way, but that may be some type of a denial mechanism on my part! I interpret it as Enrique is taking advantage of all that UA has to offer.

  7. It’s a tad long, but an interesting read

  8. I took it as - hey rest of the roster, this could be you. Not to say he'll be back or not, I just don't read that quote as any signaling of Enrique's future here.

  9. This is certainly something that will need to be discussed at some point, I'm sure @Hilltopper has more inside info. But he's been at Akron for a long time now. IIRC, he was academically a sophomore when he began playing in the 19-20 season. He's now in his 4th year in the program, 5th year of college, and would be picked up by many high-majors in a heartbeat, and I'm sure he could get himself a nice NIL deal. Or he could go overseas and play forever. I just don't see him returning. They announce him last in the pregame intros too, which the usually save for guys with no eligibility left. Not scientific, but something to think about.

  10. UCF went from MAC -> CUSA -> AAC -> Big12 Must be nice. I'm incredibly jealous as Akron seems to be content stuck in the MAC forever. Except for the soccer program of course. Would be great to have something to look forward to besides a basketball game against a 6-win team from Western Michigan or freaking Miami of Ohio.

  11. No doubt, but he needs to take those tools and turn them into the most difficult part of the game.... winning. Improvement without winning is not enough.

  13. I've been critical of GT at times over the years, but I very much enjoyed that article. Good stuff.

  14. ^^Great article by GT. John Groce on the 4 freshmen: "Amani keeps getting better. Tavari, he keeps getting better. Kobe keeps understanding more of what we need from him...Nate Johnson had a great game the other night..." Interesting, and gracious way of complimenting Kobe. I think Kobe's going to transfer down a level after this season. GT on Greg Tribble's defense: To get a feel for his defensive skills, look at the clamps he put on the Eagles’ Emoni Bates, the Mid-American Conference’s leading scorer who was held to two points on 1-of-12 shooting against the Zips. John Groce on Enrique Freeman: “He's having a phenomenal experience of maxing out everything that Akron has to offer,” Groce said, “and so that's pretty neat.” Enrique has already earned his bachelor's degree and is now working on his master's. 🙏💪💪

  15. Been thinking about it, and Kent reminds me a lot of those 16-17 Akron teams, only they play a lot tougher defense. Solid talent top to bottom, and the only thing that could bring them down is their own mental errors. As they’ve dominated the MAC regular season since February of last year, I’ve found myself tuning out their praise more and more. As it grows, I hear and care about it less and less. I’d suggest Zip fans do the same. No matter what happens this year, nothing will ever take away March 12, 2022.

  16. A ton of 2024 and beyond offers have gone out and I’m way behind on those. However, thats not the reason I’m posting this offer. Even though Nyeem Wartman has not been announced as DL coach, he was tagged here. 🧐

  18. I guess Channel I mean Tribble will be guarding Norman. Zips didn't play well against Broncos last year and had one of the craziest endings ever at the JAR.
