I dont want to get into a debate. I'll just simply say: Theres a lot about the transfer portal that I just dont like. Looking at how some schools are decimated after one good season just kind of sucks.5 points

The answer seems pretty obvious. He'd instantly be the 2nd best player on the team and our best perimeter player. This team lacked perimeter shooting even with Castaneda. Remove Castaneda and we're probably (as the roster stands right now) the worst shooting team in the MAC. Anyone who wouldn't take a proven .400 3P% shooter because him leaving hurt their feeling needs to grow up.3 points

That article is the gift that just keeps on giving. Some of my favorite parts: "I took the coach at Kent State's job, Rob Senderoff. Rob Senderoff was cheating his brains out for Kelvin Sampson at Indiana and Kelvin is pretty smart. He got rid of Senderoff, but took care of him" "He slips me a camp check and says 'give it to Senderoff, would ya?' So Senderoff gets fired in the middle of the 2008 season, and then because cheating pays, he ends of getting a job at Kent State becuse he has buddies there. He went back to Kent State and got a job because he's a scheming little guy.'' "Senderoff was a little cheat, and he wasn't even any good at it,'' Dakich said. "He got caught easy when he was at Indiana." "You've got to understand that when I came to Indiana after 16 years at Indiana with Bob Knight, this little weasel Senderoff tells me 'this is as new Indiana. There's a new sheriff in town,’ “Dakich said. ''I said, ah, man, you guys are great. You're all awesome.' About a month later, I find out that Senderoff and McCallumn and Sampson are all cheating like crazy.'' Dakich said that Senderoff ''has done a good job and Kent State, and has a good team,'' but he also interjected that he ''probably still gets his players the same way Kelvin Sampson does, by cheating.'' "You can't lose to little Robbie Senderoff. He had no idea how to coach nothing. He was coaching the bigs, and that's what I did after he was fired. We had D.J. White. I said 'D.J., you need to get a jump hook.' Senderoff never did that. He's a whiner, he's a baby.''2 points

We can make every player in our programs history look horrible if you want to cherry pick stats based on one game. If you want to look at stats for all of his last season season here, Ali was our leader in assists, leader in PPG, leader in 3pt fg%, leader in FG% (excluding Freeman, Aziz, and a couple guys who hardly played), and leader in blocks outside of Aziz and Freeman.2 points

https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/dan-dakich-peels-back-curtain-on-craziness-during-kelvin-sampson-rob-senderoff-era "Indiana fans, if you want to get under Senderoff's skin, cheer Bud Mackey,'' Dakich said. "Bud Mackey was a palyer from Kentucky that he sold Sampson on but never got to play. Why? Armed robbery, drugs, you name. Multiple charges. "So we find out that Bud Mackey has been arrested and I'm sitting in my office, and I'm just laughing. I'm watching Senderoff, and Ray McCallum and Kelvin Sampson, it's like the Keystone Cops of idiots. We find out that Bud Mackey has been arrested and my man Senderoff is balling in my office. Literally crying his eyes out.''2 points

Talented and proven MAC player? Yes I would take Ali back in a heartbeat. We'd be guaranteed to get much more out of him than we've gotten from a lot of our other transfers, because we've already seen what he can do with our own eyes. We should ask OU fans if they regret taking Jason Carter back.2 points

I'd be interested in a 2 or 4 game series between Akron & Duquesne, not a meaningless end of season exhibition game. The schools are less than 2 hours apart so travel would be cheap, and they are the caliber of a top half MAC school so it would be a decent test to prepare us for MAC play. Similar to what Marshall has provided us over the last 8 years or so.2 points

They have hired a search firm and should have a new coach soon. If they hire the right person some of the current players in the portal could be back with the Zips.1 point

I'm not cherry picking 1 game to bury his time as a Zip. He was obviously huge in many games on a team void of depth/talent last year. The post I directly replied to said, "The answer seems pretty obvious.... Anyone who wouldn't take a proven .400 3P% shooter because him leaving hurt their feeling needs to grow up." The guy no-showed when we absolutely needed him in the NCAA Tournament, then bolted for Butler, with the optics being he thought/thinks he's better than Akron. Since being at Butler, he has seemingly regressed and faded into irrelevancy. I don't think it's exactly an obvious "yes" to want a player back who no-showed in your biggest game on the national stage and seemingly thought he was too good for our program, yet 75% of his new school's fans probably don't even know who he is. That's my point. It's a silly hypothetical to even debate since he isn't even in the Portal.1 point

I guess I never looked at this box score that much. How on earth did he play that many minutes and grab 1 rebound and only have 1 assist. Should've had two assists if he passed out to Wynn in the corner instead of going for the hero layup at the end of the game.1 point

W.O.W. Quite the hire by BUGS. Here is a bit of what we can probably expect from BUGS going forward...1 point

I think you're good keeping it here. There's no time reference in the thread title and it is moving to the top now.1 point

No because we need win-now talent, and I'm not interested in having Ali Ali back only for him to sit for a year. As a grad transfer? Still no.1 point

Here's hoping Guthrie acts quickly and gets somebody into the seat. Each day it sits empty is another missed opportunity to recruit and work to keep some of the current women here.1 point

How YSU got a top 4 seed, but Toledo didn't is beyond me. By every measureable Toledo was ahead of YSU. Michigan deserves the 2 seed they got as they were literally a bubble team. It should be OSU playing @ Toledo & YSU @ Michigan.1 point

I wish there was a site that added stats to Portal entries. I'd be like a kid in a candy shop. "I'll take one of these 18 ppg guards, one of those 7 rebounds per game bigs..."1 point

Here is a little perspective and a lesson in high standards. UNC won 20 games this season and didn't make the NCAA tournament. They were offered a spot in the NIT and turned it down. The NIT is part of American basketball culture and I want it to mean something. At the same time, I respect UNC's reasoning. This is what programs with high standards do. I applaud the Zips for not participating in the CBI. It establishes a standard for the program and the standard is not playing in a trash tournament at the end of the year. The CBI is worse than Tuesday and Wednesday night MAC football games, which is a massively low standard the MAC has set for football.1 point

A bunch of my fellow posters have short memories. Other than the NIT, most of the Zips participation in these other tournaments have left us with a bad taste in our mouths.1 point

It would be great to get guys like Nate, Tavari and Lyles some time extra time on the floor to help prep them for next year. The problem is that if you get them extended time on the floor it likely results in a loss. At that point, you have to make the value assessment of whether an extra 30 minutes of playing time for those guys is worth $27.5K.1 point

The big boys have twisted the metrics enough by switching from subjective, to subjective + RPI, to NET, and now to subjective + NET. Now they can justify sending a 27-7 conference champ that had win 17 straight before losing in their conference tournament championship game to play at a .500 Big Ten team that lost in their opening conference tournament game.1 point

Faith has to work on her conditioning in the off season. Reagan, Layne and Molly could all run circles around her as could opposing bigs. She wasn’t going to be on the blocks ahead of the other 3 bigs and being on the perimeter helped her get back on defense. The couple of games I was at where she got significant PT she was gassed quick. That being said she has a lot of potential and can be a real contributor next season.1 point

can't even make the cbi...utterly pathetic give it up...your football team will be lucky to win 4 games...had two of the worst HC's in the history of football and your basketball program is 'so respected' can't get an invite to a crap tourney enjoy0 points
