  1. DJI’s only win over last two years was week one against (FCS) Saint Francis in OT.. Two of last three overall wins, Undercuffler at QB.. One conference win since Oct 9, 2021.. who was at QB? Undercuffler. Team had a real spark in 2Q, moved the chains and didn’t blow up emotionally in 4Q (aka: a different QB v. Temple). Time to give 13 a real shot, with a true gameplan and full week of practice. Hopefully can get through next two weeks and lead this team into conference play.

  4. I'm very eager to see the Big East schedule begin. It seems weird to be ranked at the top as the new member but I guess it also justifies our invitation. Then again, they will all be gunning for us and it will be a tough competition for the BE title. Go Zips!

  5. BRAVO !!!! BRAVO !!!! Best zips team performance of the year..... The zips were fantastic........ they played with out Dyson Clapier and they put a beatdown on a top 20 team...... Zips coaching staff had a great game plan....and the zips great depth really showed tonight Joel Sangwa is an absolute warrior to come back in the 2nd half with a heavily taped wrist and battle for the entire 2nd half. Alejandro "Nano" Varela came in early in the 2nd half for Sammy Tojaga and I think that Nano had his best performance as a zip. Jason Shokalook was a force all night. Obviously, watching the game via video....does not give the same great perspective...that being at the game .....provides but, my goodness !!!!! Malik Henry was an absolute superstar in the 2nd half. In my humble opinion, Malik had his best performance as an Akron Zip Malik was very solid defensively......... Malik had a 12 minute stretch in the 2nd half.....offensively......that I do not think that any player in college soccer will match this year at 33:57, Nano showed great vision and made a great pass from the left side of the field...thru the middle...to the right side of the field and the pass went to Malik Malik cut inside and got off a beautiful left foot shot to the top right corner of the goal GK made a phenomenal save and the zips got a corner kick..... it is hard to describe the great skill and spin that Malik put on the left footed shot and it was on perfect alignment to the top right of the goal box at 29:56, Malik used his speed to blow past a defender...using his right foot then , Malik made a superb cross on the ground right in front of the box.... zips could not get a foot on it....but it was a beautiful cross from a very dangerous player around 22 minutes and change....Malik timed his run perfectly and got a pass after using his tremendous speed Malik made a very strong right footed shot The GK could only put his hands to punch the ball away the rebound did not bounce right for the zips....but the zips will get many goals off rebounds...if Malik continues to fire off strong shots..... Chad Welker was going wild......praising Malik....for taking great shots...... Mailk is going to start getting some goals during the year.....and that is going to make the Zips even more dangerous on the offensive end..... great job, players....great job....coaches........ the camera after the game focused on Michael Nanchoff and Ger Coppenger hugging and congratulating the players...... the huge smiles on Michael and Ger's faces....was an absolutely beautiful sight........... BRAVO

  8. If you click on the information @Akron1 provided you can reserve a free slot or two at the UA-Kentucky tailgate. Seems like a no-brainer to stop by if your at the game? They also have $55 game tickets, which is pretty good. I paid $39 x 2 + $36 in fees for my 2 tix (I bought them before I knew of the UA offer).

  10. The UK/UA game should be a classic resistible force versus a movable object game. Go Zips.

  12. Far from perfect, but a quality win over a quality opponent, and we kept the clean sheet. Well done! From coaches on down the line!

  13. Great momentum as we ease into Big East play! Malik had a great game, as well as the defense! FIU had a huge height advantage and we took away any dangerous opportunities they had on corners. Great game!

  14. Best half of the year. Shooky en fuego !!! Joel Sangwa appeared to have his hand or wrist stepped on. Darragh Reilly came into the game to replace the great Joel Sangwa....and Darragh did well as center back first goal shown below

  15. I thrilled with our LB play. After losing Bubba I thought it'd take our youngins a handful of games to get up to speed. No way. Our LB's are STUDS!

  16. That's amazing. I saw 3 times he was down on his knees but I thought he got his bell rung or something... I was worried he was banged up... didn't know he was puking. Crazy! Rock on! ✊🤘

  18. I wish DJ were as good at moving the chains as he is a posting cryptic tweets. If he isn't mentally tough enough to accept getting benched after some really sub par work, then he's not a D1 QB. This is big boy football. If you go 4 full quarters without moving the chains whatsoever, against mediocre competition, it's next-man-up. I would start DJ against Kentucky. He's shown well against P5 teams in the past. If we go 3-and-out repeatedly, or he makes a crippling turnover or two, then we move to Plan B.

  19. It looks like our season will revolve around the issue of finding an effective QB. My thoughts on last night's game are these: The event management sucked. The music was poor and excruciating loud. Give me more of the band. UA needs to copy what works for other programs. I'm talking about during the TO's and commercials. That entertainment is usually cheap. Engage MBA students to go out and see what is fun at other stadiums. The OL was unsettled with Williams out. It lost ground from the week before. Play calling is hurting us. No run game. No bubble screens. No passing to the backs. I can't believe this is Joe calling the plays. Find something that works and you take the pressure off the OL and QB's. Our goals are still out there to be grasped. The D can win some games if the O can play. Now we will see who can coach. The talent is there to go .500.

  24. Spring practice....preseason practice....returning starter....second year of the new leadership....and we're still uncertain of our starter at the most important position on the field. Sigh. Kentucky- 35, Zips- 6.
