  1. Joe Arth until further notice. Much better recruiting. Same football ineptitude, playcalling, and execution.

  2. Another tough one… - I cannot wrap my mind around why Lingard is not utilized more in the run game. He’s a threat every time he touches the ball and we only gave him 8 rushing attempts. I know Irons chose to pull several times instead of give, so that is part of the issue. In any case, Lingard may be the offense’s best weapon and we hardly use him outside of a few pass targets and to block. - Heavy emphasis on running Irons this game, which is somewhat understandable after last week, but he can’t be the only running option. - If Undercuffler is next in line and he’s expected to be successful without a run game, it isn’t going to happen. He actually did give to Lingard one (maybe two?) time on the read. - I thought Buffalo’s receivers made Snyder look much better than he was last year. This year, he is playing on another level. Impressive job by the defense holding the MAC’s leading passer to 142 yards. - Special teams were solid all game except for the blocked OT FG. - That’s already 3 losses by a combined 8 points. Defense has done more than their fair share and it’s past time this program turned the corner. There is not a talent deficiency on this year’s roster and the offense must figure it out. Coach Moorhead is a brilliant offensive mind, yet the offense has been incredibly inefficient scoring. This year’s offense (at least with the 3 QBs we’ve seen) needs to be more run heavy and the staff has to realize it. - Notable DNPs were Adams, Cooper, Bullock, Blanchard, K. Thomas, Behm. - Sophomores Kiawan Murphy and Jaharon Griffin saw their first significant action on defense. - KJ Martin played every snap on defense, while Bryan McCoy only missed one. The starting OL went the distance with the exception of Georges subbing in for Tyler Williams a few times. - Defense was credited with only 5 missed tackles for the game. QB - Irons (Undercuffler) RB - Lingard (D. Anderson) WR - George (Norton) WR- Gathings (C. Anderson) WR - Walker (Golden) TE - Banks (Newell) LT - Chambers LG - Frank C - T. Williams (Georges) RG - Davis RT - N. Williams DE - Adler (A. Smith) DT - Lavea (Murphy) DT - Jones (Robinson) DE - Nunnally (Jackson) LB - Fish (Griffin) LB - McCoy (Harris) NB - Lewis CB - Durant (Hunter) S - C. Thomas (N. Thompson) S - KJ Martin CB - Tallandier (Golden-Nelson)

  4. 7 points given up in the first half of a conference game. That can only be described as very good defense. Akron cannot blow another very good effort by this defense again.

  8. All he did was use him to hand off five times, scrambled for a sack and throw the ball to the cook at Europe Gyro. I'm guessing he's pretty disgusted with his QB room.

  12. At this point don't care about the score. I am tired of watching Moorehead's marshmallow offense. I am tired of his offense hanging the defense out to dry. I am tired of watching Irons try to play QB. I am tired of Moorehead in desparation inserting a QB who has watched the entire game from the bench. No run game in the offense. That's Moorehead's fault. Staying with a QB who holds the ball too long, is generally inaccurate and makes poor decisions. Even a 'close' game isn't a whole lot of fun to watch. The results seem inevitable. To Buffalo's credit, they figured it out. They ran the ball between the tackles a lot. Their QB generally made good decisions and put the ball on target, on time. Won't win many more games this way.

  24. KSUcks brought in a transfer QB from Purdue. I know, I know. We brought in Taj Bullock from Va.Tech... but judging by how our staff utilizes Taj it doesn't appear he's at all capable of throwing the ball (at least not accurately).

  28. You are 100% correct. The sad part is even with average MAC QB play we would have made a run at 4-1 with the way the defense is playing.

  29. I still can't believe they lost. Buffalo is a terrible MAC team. Between the Zips and the marathoners, there's a lot of crap to clean out of athletic gear this afternoon.

  30. I don't want an average MAC QB. I want a top notch MAC QB. That's how you win and compete for league championships. I don't want to be the NC State of the MAC. We can do better than that. If Wake Forest can get top level ACC QBs, Akron can get top level MAC QBs.

  43. I very much want to say I expect Akron to come out tomorrow and put together their first 60-minute game of the season, but I have been so beat down by the close losses and flashes of greatness along with the crushing mistakes and missed opportunities. If Akron can put together a solid 60 minutes, they will win easily. But Buffalo is no slouch, even at 0-4. They've got some nice individual skill players all over the field. And I hate that I have to say that, since this is a game Akron pretty much has to win. But at this point, I've seen Akron lose this game way too many times to get my hopes too high. The weather is going to be awesome tomorrow, we have a beatable opponent, some momentum from a shoulda been win over a B1G team, and the homecoming game next week. It's time to WIN, damn it!!! Go Zips!

  44. I'm encouraged by DJ's play at Indiana. He finally looked like his old, pre-injury self again (even though, to me, it still appears his arm is not quite as strong as it was pre-injury). If this is the DJ we get for the rest of the season we're going to be tough to beat. Our D is legit. Love it when a team's identity is led by the defense. We're some hard-nosed sons of b*tches! ✊💪💪
