Hi everybody, I’m new to Zips Nation and don’t want to steal anyone’s thunder, since it appears catdaddyp is very in the know. However, I just looked up Ben Finley’s instagram account and he already has himself listed as our QB. Not sure why there wasn’t some sort of bigger announcement, but maybe that is coming soon.5 points

Here are some highlights against Washington this year. Doesn’t have quite as much natural arm strength or mobility as Bullock and Wasel (still has more than enough), but throws a really nice ball. He made a few boneheaded interceptions in this game, yet also threw some great passes. Fast forward to where Cal is on offense and it goes pretty quickly.3 points

I was expecting him to announce on Twitter today, but there it is. He committed last night.3 points

In addition to the ticket sales, the P5 conferences want the home games that way they have more inventory for their TV network, which they have a direct ownership stake in. They're never going to come to the JAR. The best we can hope for is playing them on a neutral court.3 points

Just a college kid with not enough friends who like Akron sports. I love local sports 😁3 points

He's clearly better than Drake Maye, projected to go 2nd in the NFL draft, based upon this clear video proof!2 points

First off, OU vs Sunbelt member Georgia Southern. I don't think winning or losing is critical in bowl season, but this should be a fun game. An annual regular season Sun Belt vs MAC would be a great event.1 point

Nice looking QB against national championship level talent. Accuracy is the key in college and he has it. I'm feeling better.1 point

I like how he continues to make great moves all the way down the field to get himself into the endzone in his high school clips. Seems to have nice speed too. https://247sports.com/Player/Marquese-Williams-46094608/1 point

I'd rather park somewhere down off of Brown Street and walk in for the thrill of the adventure.1 point

He's an upgrade for sure. Hopefully he can cut down on the INTs against lower level play. https://calbears.com/sports/football/roster/ben-finley/226421 point

Another issue created by the 9:00 p.m. game time is that many of the GA regulars are resistant to paying the $10 parking fee for the deck and have been parking and walking in from other places in and around campus. That feels much better from a safety perspective and 6:30 and 9 than it does at 8:30 and 11.1 point

This is the way that I saw it. And almost all the reflections by Georgia Southern fans were on their QB's failures. Very similar to the way he cost them the Wisconsin game in which they had an early lead in Madison.1 point

I hope they change the game time to 7pm. Probably not happening, but I’d be happy if it did.1 point

This article about Ty Thompson speculates that: "Iowa could pluck Moorhead and offer him a Power Five spot with a quarterback he is familiar with"1 point

How soon we forget Khadim Gueye! But seriously, every successful D1 program is going to have some "bad apples". Naming 4 players in 13 seasons tells me culture was pretty solid back then too. I do appreciate Groce and the little things he does - having the team thank students for coming after games, having the players know and sing the Alma mater. We're really lucky to have had two really fantastic coaches back-to-back and for so long.1 point

https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/s/N5MRV5OgrT I decided to post on r/college basketball about the MAC and here was the community result. Lots of Akron and Buffalo for the memes lmao1 point

I still say MAC teams (ADs actually) don't leverage their 'buy' FB games against P5 teams into more basketball opportunities either home or on the road. If you can't get a home and home with a bottom tier P5 team, I'd at least wright into the contract that a road upset by the Zips triggers a return game to Akron the following season, followed by a third game back on the road at P5. Might be a tough way to get a 2-for-1, but at least give yourself a fighting chance. For all the body bag games that FB team down the road plays, they should definitely employ a strategy like this.1 point

Spot on as usual Clark; however, I do not anticipate anyone three or four years from now lamenting not having guards playing at the level of Thorn or Scott. We did get spoiled. Hopefully, our PG’s settle in and Dawson and Nate get the confidence and/or consistency we need to make some noise in the MAC Tourney. I will miss Tribble’s hustle, drive and toughness. Just not the Olympic style shot-put jumper.1 point

100% Agree. Comparing this year to the championship season 2 years ago, this schedule has been way better. Yes we played OSU and Marshall, but the other games were not close to what we got this year. That year we had Point Park (compare to Miami-Hamilton), Wheeling (compare to Heidelberg), Wright State (compare to NKU). Other than that, this year had way better games, and a much better Thanksgiving Tournament field.1 point

Coming off a pretty severe injury, I’ll speculate Price will call it a career. Or move on. He’s also the rb that left the ball on the turf costing us the CMU and Buffalo games in ‘22.0 points
