  1. It is well overdue to get a win in Bloomington The Hoosiers have never lost to the Zips at home, boasting a 16-0-2 record as the host. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/11/23/mens-soccer-no-14-hoosiers-host-akron-in-ncaa-tournament-second-round

  2. Am I dreaming, please pinch me as it is a great week to be Zip fan. Tuesday we beat Kent in football, Thursday we won our first NCAA soccer game in 6 years by beating Princeton, and Friday we beat powerhouse Lamar in basketball. (And our corporate partner, the Browns also beat the Steelers on Thursday) Lets keep this party rolling with victories in basketball on Sat. and Sunday, a win in Indiana in soccer on Sunday, and a beat down of Toledo in football in Tuesday. Do you believe in Miracles? Lets run the table.

  5. Thank you, Zarek Valentin......for recommending Beto Ydrach. Big East Defensive player of the year !!!!! Hard to believe that a great player....like Beto only started 1 game last year for Central Florida. Beto has been fantastic all year !!! https://ucfknights.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/season/2023/player/beto-ydrach

  6. Trust me, The MAC has no desire to re-add Men's soccer, and I believe Men's Swimming and Diving and probably Track will be "un-sponsored" real soon. Wrestling too. I have a hard time with the affiliate teams on the wone's side for Lacrosse. This season Championship match featured two non-legacy teams. And why would we leave a solid conference with great competition and a dozen teams, which gets multiple NCAA bids for a 5-team league, where we either have to play 4 home-home matches to fill the schedule or find 10 out-of-conference matches. It's a blessing, as @ZippyRulz and @Reslife4Life mentioned above, that the MAC dropped men's soccer.

  7. To ensure good attendance at both games I think they need to play the Zips game at 4pm, then at halftime play the first half of the second game. After halftime, finish game #1. Then finish game #2. For non-Akron games the UA cheerleaders and band need to split up and support the other teams evenly. Ater the games are over, hold a ceremony to hang a golden microphone for Steve French in the rafters. I’d stick around for that.

  8. Taught my kids the Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoosiers chant just to solidify their hatred of Ohio State. Household philosophy. Our 3 favorite teams are Akron and whomever is playing Kent and Ohio State.

  9. Our schedule is a joke! North Carolina is playing on the road at an unranked Big West team, why can’t we schedule that!!!!! Just don’t look at what team they are playing

  10. Akron hosted a first round Gardner Webb was on the road.... I would think that Akron...would definitely host that game.

  11. I know it's Omaha and Joe Akron won't think much of that win, but that was a good win.

  12. MMK came in for 1 defensive possession I’m pretty sure. Also Shammah and Seth Wilson not playing much in this second half

  13. Props to Omaha on keeping up. Hopefully we fix some of the defensive flaws and keep knocking down shots in the 2nd half. This is a good "tournament" for us. We're able to work on some things while also playing competitive DI squads.

  14. I've thought the same thing. Then I watched him get outrebounded by a ton during the SMC game and I think the ghosts have mostly disappeared. 🤣

  20. Guthrie loyalists made a statement tonight. Fans boycotted the game #2. Workers boycotted the concessions. If he were still on campus, things would be different.

  21. It's pretty clear the 2 best players are Tavari and Amani. Their experience in Groce's system showed tonight.

  22. Tavari's decision making is still wildly questionable. I'm more comfortable with Sharron Young as a freshman, and that's as much an indictment on Tavari as it is a compliment for Young. Harris needs to ice his lower back for the quick turnaround tomorrow.

  24. There is a strong argument that he has been the best player on the court tonight. Him and Lyles, another player that is constantly talked poorly of on here.

  25. Tavari’s best game this season IMO. Pretty horrible shooting night collectively though. Luckily we were the more talented team in this one.

  26. I beg to differ, when you have the number of P5 transfers this team has. If that is the recruit/portal level Groce is looking to compete at on a yearly basis, I believe the non-con schedule should reflect the fact the talent level is (supposedly) high enough to warrant two or three of those games.

  29. I had never heard of zips nation insider during the interview with Jared....they mention that they had talked with some of his players at 6;41...they show Matt Dreas walking from elevator to the suite probably start talking with Matt around 7:10 or 7:15

  30. It is amazing how similar .....the seasons are for both the zips and the hoosiers Akron started the season 1-3-3 Akron then went 10-0-1....before a loss to Georgetown in the Big East semis Indiana started their season with a record of 2-3-4 They went 8-0-1 ....before a loss to Michigan in the Big Ten semis It looks like the zips....and hoosiers had 3 common opponents Notre Dame, Butler and Ohio State Zips went 1-1-1 Hoosiers went 0-0-3 One other interesting comment on the Hoosiers Hoosiers have a higher RPI than Princeton Princeton had an RPI of 17....and they were given a road game in the first round Indiana had an RPI of 21.....and they rewarded with a first round bye.....with a top 16 seed (14 seed)

  31. Following the 1-0 Zips win v IU on 9/7/2012, back in the lobby of the Zips hotel, after I congratulated him and team, Caleb Porter smiled and told me that there was nothing better than beating your friends. 😃

  33. The zero noisemaker object policy by the NCAA in the tournament is and has always been insanely dumb. Yes, let's nerf the atmosphere at a college soccer match. We wouldn't want the event to be too cool and fun to attend/watch.

  34. On Wed against Houston Freeman played 14 minutes and scored a career high 6 points and had a really nice assist that made the highlight clip. Indiana has a lot of injuries and he is getting more playing time.
