  1. Evan - Waved a great towel. Embraced his role as an energy guy on the bench. A very underrated shooter when given the chance. He'd have have seen PT in Groce's Akron Year #1 and acquitted himself well. Decent all around player for a walk on. Fun kid to root for. Seth - Short, streaky, stocky 3-point specialist. Unwavering confidence in his shot. Not such a great defender. If the Zips were to get in the Big Dance, he'd need to go on a heater if we are to have any chance of winning a game. Good 1-year portal addition. Isaiah - Good blue-collar player. Jack of all trades. Decent rebounder, decent 3-point shooter, decent ball handler. Confident, veteran presence. Good attitude. Gets into trouble driving the lane...not as good a ball handler as he thinks he is. Doesn't necessarily finish at the rim all that well. Never lacks effort. Never sulks.

  2. My thoughts on Evan from very far(no in person games). He is supreme support for his teammates. They all show how much they appreciate that when he does get a chance to get on the court. His enthusiasm is contagious. I expect that he will have a roll after graduation if not under JG some where. I think he could do a wonderful job with the younger players.

  4. They have ruined rivalries like this for years now. Listen carefully everyone. I've said this before but it doesn't seem to be sinking in. The people who run college athletics simply don't care about the in person fan experience. It's almost completely about TV, boozers and degenerate gamblers. As soon as you accept that, you will feel less disappointed when you see leaders do stupid things.

  5. You all are virtual teenagers. I started work at Akron June 1965! Started graduate school at night the same year. Not only was Buchtel open, there were apartment buildings across the street- believe they were called the Char apartments (i think) used as dorms to the growing student population. there were small former homes, some used as fraternity houses, where the library is. Akron has grown and developed as a strong regional University during this period and needs to feel prouder about its strengthening than it does. It is an excellent institution and changes like this pathway enhancement will give it the visual "look" that many people associate with a strong school. Looks great Forever a Zip!

  6. He is our most coveted player. His production the last few games is just a reflection of being a true freshman. He has the most upside of any player on the roster. P4 will be coming hard for him in the off-season. The only guy with a bigger upside is JG.

  7. This is what our schedule needs to look like every year. The opportunity is there for a good start and to create momentum. No excuses, they need to perform this year. Bowl eligibility or bust

  8. 2025 MAC Schedule is out. - 6 homes games for Akron. Cannot remember the last time that happened. - No Ohio. - Love the Duquesne game as a "break" between OOC & MAC schedules. - Wyoming, @ Nebraska, @ UAB, Duquesne is the best OOC schedule we've had in some time. - Kent on a Tuesday night is still crap. - 6 MAC wins minimum on this schedule. - No excuse to not go bowling this year at the very least. On you, JoeMo.

  10. Dayton is a solid private school, but the pricetag is pretty steep for just solid. Ohio public universities offer very good value for the cost. Kids should be looking at the Ohio public university more than they are. It's a great value. I'd stack UofA up against Dayton any day of the week. I understand demographic, etc. but it seems easy enough to exploit.

  12. There is genuine optimism when you look at this schedule. But the MAC has got to have its head examined to have put one of the best rivalries in the conference on November 11, a Tuesday night. You would think that they could learn from the basketball rivalry and put this game in mid-October so it could be allowed to grow. Before you get all excited and jump on me for UA and Kent being two dismal programs I get your skepticism. Yet despite two poor teams the game is well attended, the rivalry is intense, these are two big alumni bases and the Wagon Wheel trophy is the best in the MAC. What I'm saying is that this game has greater upside than most traditional rivalries in the MAC. Give it a chance with a better date. That's not too much to ask.

  13. My only issue with this year’s schedule is our 2nd bye is on the final week of conference play. Outside of that, great schedule. Miami and Toledo probably have the most overall talent…again. 4 of our MAC opponents will have new head coaches. I doubt that many of them will be situations like Lembo’s first year with Buffalo. We still have some areas that need addressing on the roster, but this program is far ahead from when Moorhead took over. 6 wins minimum has to be the expectation this season. And who knows when we’ll have a schedule this manageable again.

  14. Maybe that was intentional on our part since few outside our circle would know what the "A" stands for. 🤔 I still think the A needs to have Akron or Zips with it somewhere most of the time anyway.

  16. Overall record is 27 wins, in 2016-2017. So how about a win over Buffalo and the MAC tournament for a nice even 30 going into the NCAA tournament?

  17. A family member of Bowen Hardman posted on Facebook that Bowen loves playing for Groce and feels right at home at Akron. This is the second family member of a player that has said they love being at Akron and playing for Groce. We're building something special.

  19. If Akron wins, I believe it will be the program record for regular season wins.
