  1. On the spur of the moment I decided to attend the game since the weather was perfect. It is one of the best games by Akron in a long time. They had a nice balence of runs and passing and the receivers were open most of the afternoon. The defense made some great plays right before the half. Just wish we could have more games like today. I thought Finely was the best. On the interception it was a bad pass but the defender made a nice play on the ball. Makes me look forward to next week.

  3. Today's scrimmage was by invite only. All I can say is Groce has a big problem on his hands. Too many good players and not enough minutes per game. Perkins and Henderson both look like they could play this year. Head and Evan Mahaffey looked solid. The Serb is going to be a matchup nightmare for our opponents. Scott buried at least 6 NBA range 3's. Overall a good showcase.

  5. It will be interesting to see if anyone makes a dramatic leap like Amani and Tavari did last year. I always thought Tavari had talent but I was in the minority on this board and took a lot of grief from people on this board until last year. However, I was unhappy that Amani stayed with the team last year since I just did not see the talent. Could not be happier to be dead wrong. Nobody can ever predict who will improve from one year to the next.

  6. Jack Roman has to be on the National list for the 5 most improved players in college soccer. Tremendous work by Jack Roman......to create that goal. The work rate of Jack Roman is phenomenal.

  8. Akron needed a win at home in the MAC on a Saturday in the worst way. Nice job.

  9. When is the last time Akron had to put a hands team on the field to get a kick to win a game?

  11. Thanks! Just did this because I was super confused. Sitting here waiting for CMU to score and nothing happened 😂

  12. I didn't see the scrimmage ... but I stand by what I said a few posts back. For those who were there, how did the big guys play. Talent wise Akron's guards/wings should match up well against anyone in the league. Won't need a true big in the MAC to win it ... but after Lyles, how did the other bigs look?

  13. Nothing like taking a 10 yard sack on 3rd down to take us out of FG range. FG missed as expected.

  14. Damn I missed it then. Unfortunate. The fall fest is very fun though!

  15. It's happening right now. Someone just sent me a picture. Many times, there's only one or two unlocked doors.

  16. In six attempts, we have never beaten St. Johns. Crazy, especially after having the lead at home.

  17. In the world of NIL, we should be asking recruits to rank the top 5 players of all time at their position. Any type of reward for this level of stupidity should be punished similarly to Akron's academic postseason bowl ban. Who knows how he is as a student, but he is certainly not a student of the game. 😂

  18. Game Day Notes: CMU has rotated quarterbacks for much of the year but seems to have settled on Labas and Flores. When Labas is under center, they throw it about 65% of the time, while Flores’ snaps are heavily run-oriented — 81% of his plays have been runs. Outside of Flores, Biggins and Cornist have handled most of the work on the ground, each averaging over four yards per carry. Biggins has also been a reliable option as a receiver out of the backfield. In the passing game, McIntosh and Lewis are the primary threats, while tight end DeCorian Temple is a name to keep an eye on in the red zone. Whether it’s more about scheme or personnel, this offensive line is noticeably stronger in the run game than in pass protection. If the Chips think they can establish the run against an opponent, they’ll lean into it — and the passing game will take a back seat. Most of CMU’s pass rush comes from one source — defensive end Michael Heldman. No one else on the roster has come close to matching the kind of pressure he’s generated in 2025. While CMU doesn’t boast an elite defense and has been about average overall, the unit has tackled well. Despite the overall record, we’ve got a few players who are tracking toward all-conference seasons — RG Davis, DE Dall, LB Cooper, CB DeWalt, and CB Reed. Hopefully the team can bounce back today and put together a strong performance against an opponent that’s very beatable, as long as we stay within striking distance.

  19. Congratulations to Jason Shokalook. Jason currently has 18 goals and is the current favorite to win the Golden Boot in MLS Next Pro https://www.mlsnextpro.com/news/the-contenders-who-will-win-2025-golden-boot-playmaker-of-the-year

  20. I see big value in Shammah being the 6th man but I think he put the blood sweat and tears for this program to not start his senior year. Then I could see both Mahaffey bother’s start with Amani Lyles and Johnson.
