  1. Put me in the category of being glad to see the MAC pull off the win. People are right when they say one year won't change the perception of the MAC, but you have to start building from some point.
  2. Having Antino might have added a few regular season wins, but at the end of the day we still wouldn't have had the depth nor talent at the bigs to compete this season.
  3. The MAC's issue is we have a few above average teams and a bunch of mediocre ones. It's much better to be a top heavy heavy conference like the WCC if the goal is to get multiple bids. On another note, the season is over now. Can we put to rest the Duquesne - Akron comparisons please?
  4. I'd agree most likely are at or above 10 which certainly would put us at a disadvantage.
  5. Being a non-revenue sport, I'd be shocked if all other MAC baseball schools offered the full 11.7 scholarships.
  6. Personally, I feel the tougher and more enjoying feat would be winning the MAC tournament as an 11 seed over beating a ~.500 MEAC/SWAC team.
  7. I'm in agreement that Akron would be a 16 seed. I just don't think they would be one of the 16 seeds who has to play in Dayton.
  8. I admit I wrote the Zips off and didn't watch. To those that didn't lose hope and watched I'm glad you were treated to a good game Looking at the box score it seems Cotton and Utomi picked the best time of the year to play perhaps their best game of the season. I'm glad to see we pulled off the win. I still don't think we have a chance in hell of making the tournament, but making it to Cleveland should provide good experience for our team in future years.
  9. I'm just going to pretend the tournament is taking a 1 year hiatus
  10. Doesn't matter to me where the players come from as long as they are talented and help the Zips win games.
  11. Great work! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to put together this quality piece.
  12. I'd have been more disappointed had this been the year we play Kent at home. As it stands there are 6 games I don't need to travel for and 5 of those are on Saturdays. Last year there were only 4 such games and 1 of those were Pine Bluff Edit: It should also be noted everyone knew we only had 5 home games so given that knowledge, this schedule was about the best outcome anyone could of hoped for.
  13. I think the $25 deposit is for the premium plans.
  14. I'm not writing K-Lac off, but that's an apples to oranges comparison. The offense last year was ran through Big Dog, who had significantly more touches per game. You fail to mention Big Dog's 103 assists were a team best. He averaged 1.22 assists per turnover. K-Lac is averaging 4.5 turnovers per assist.
  15. I think you might be confused. That $25 figure listed on the picture is actually the deposit amount. GA season tickets still start at $60 so the price per game actually went up, not down.
  16. The defense can certainly use the help.
  17. Are they cheaper? I thought plans started at $60 last year.
  18. Not to mention we've lost 6 out of our last 7 games, 5 of which by double figures, including the 24 point beat down to current co-cellar dweller Ohio.
  19. Quite the offer list. Groce is going to have to work some of his recruiting magic to land this guy.
  20. I'm going to guess another scholarship frees itself up one way or another. Personally, I don't mind Utomi playing 15-20 min a night at the 4. I want our best players on the court as many minutes as possible and it appears the strength of our team is going to be at the g/sf positions.
  21. Ohh good it's approaching that time of year where the ABJ prints it's annual Infocision is a money pit article where they detail how many tickets the University bought.
  22. I'm anxiously waiting news on the surplus sale. I need some new Akron swag
  23. I just don't see an inverse relationship between the two. You have to make the tournament in order to have a chance to score that upset. Those 20+ win seasons put us in a position to make the tournament 3 times. We did fall short for whatever reason each of those 3 times, but getting to 20+ wins isn't what hindered us. Anyways I'm done debating this. I honestly didn't try turning this thread into a Dambrot debate. I've tried staying out of those. I just hate the if you're not first you're last mentality that sports has turned into.
  24. I knew going into this season it would be rough and said I'm giving Groce a pass. It still doesn't mean it isn't painful to see the program that has been the class of the MAC for the past 15 turn into the cupcake we always complained about. Hopefully we're only down short-term and Groce will take us to the level Dambrot seemed to always be on the cusp of, but always fell a tad short of.
