Zips at Texas-Arlington — NIT Round 2 (Mon 8 pm)

I'm not sure what exactly happened that made Hughes completely fall out of the rotation after returning from his injury, but I feel he will need to make huge strides if we are to contend next year. -

Like Zippyfan and Dr.Z said we ran into a quality UTA team that based off their performance against BYU and us, appears to be peaking. We came out playing sloppy and were chasing points the entire night instead of just settling in. On offense UTA did a tremendous job of moving the ball around selflessly to make that extra pass turning what would have been good shots into great shots. On defense they had the perfect game plan and personnel needed to nuetralize Big Dog. They managed to send double and even at times triple team help while still rotating fast enough to cover whoever he dished it off to. They exposed our weaknesses. We look lost offensively when Big Dog isn't able to create others shots and our guards don't have the lateral quickness to keep their man in front of them. -

Dambrot has called out specific coaches by name, like he did when he said he talked to UM coach face to face. If you don't think there was little truth in it, wouldn't those coaches refute it? It's also not like Akron is the only up and coming mid-major that has voiced those concerns. I suppose all those coaches are lying and just trying to protect themselves... -

If the answer was that simple we'd have the best football team in the MAC. -
That was a really great article. Very thorough analysis.

Perhaps UTA will get an invite after the game since Akron is making them look like world beaters. -

We certainly need bigger, faster, stronger players. I don't know how we can get them, but we won't take the next step without them. -

Yeah, I had to turn the game off after they decided to turn it into a dunk contest off of the errant pass. -

Yeah, I don't even know what halftime adjustments that can be made. We haven't stopped dribble penetration all year, I can't see how we'll suddenly start now. -

This team would run away with the MAC. We are getting outplayed. -

We have been in the bonus for 4 minutes and still haven't taken it to the hole. -

This might be a long night. We have no answer defensively and the times we don't turn it over, we are getting bad looks. Have to survive this 1st half and make some serious adjustments at the half. -

We need to settle down. We've made so many unforced turnovers so far. -

We needed that media timeout. We need to move the ball around and create more better looks. -

Such sloppy play on both sides so far. -
Like to see all those d-line offers outstanding. Now we just need to land a couple.

Nice arena. Shame despite having an enrollment of nearly 40,000 and basketball being the schools #1 sport, they don't have a football team, they've never filled the arena to capacity for a basketball game (seats 7,000). -

I'm with you Captain. The injury that may play a factor in this game is Jalen Jones, UTA 2nd leading scorer, got injured in SunBelt semifinals and is out for the year. -

So because there wasn't 5k+ fans in the arena that means the players who were found crying in the locker room after the game didn't care? That's perhaps one of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard on this forum. I'm seen uninspired teams play in front of sold out crowds of 10k+ fans and I saw an inspired Bowling Green beat us in their house in front of a crowd of less than 1,900. -

The common factor in pretty much all our failed scheduling attempts have come from opposing coaches having no desire to play us. -

Getting the opposing coaches blessing is perhaps the most important part of geting any deal done. I wouldn't call someone lobbying for them to schedule a home and home with Akron only for Sampson quickly nipping it in the butt "close to happening." In fact I'd say it's the opposite.
