That Indiana team was 3-9 and beat a bowl team (Wisconsin) had several close losses to some pretty good teams, so they weren’t completely horrible

Wouldn’t it make sense to add another school to get an even number of teams again? Although I guess it doesn’t really matter in the new football format, but for basketball and other sports, that might help.

Saw an article that this is coming back this summer and every kid will get around $600 payment for using their name and likeness. Probably the only NIL money that Akron kids will get.

Good interview, and very timely for this discussion. Assuming that he was telling the truth, it sure sounds like Syracuse decided to go a different direction. Maybe the new coaching staff will be running a defense that they don’t feel is a good fit for Tristen. Regardless, this is a very good signing for the Zips. I think this type of thing happens way more than people realize.

This is really odd…he commits to Syracuse on August 1, takes his official visit on December 13, de commits on December 19 one day before signing day. Did something happen on official visit that he didn’t like? Did Syracuse kick him to the curb last minute? Would love to know the story of what happened. Dino Babers was fired in November, maybe the new staff didn’t want him, but if so, very odd to pull the carpet out from him right before signing day. 🤔

Is anyone familiar with how the athletic department budget works? It seems that at most big schools the football department helps support other sports. At Akron the ticket sales obviously don’t help much but I’m curious about the big paydays that they receive against Ohio State, Tennessee, etc. Does the football team keep this money or does it all get absorbed into the entire athletic budget? Thanks, I’ll hang up and listen.

Certainly not a perfect resume but in reality, getting a QB with any Power 5 qb experience is probably the best we can hope for. Let’s hope JoeMo can make him a MAC star!
