  1. Kent shooting 27% from behind the arc. Why can’t they do that against us!
  2. If so, it should remind you of being a fan during the Coleman Crawford years. Miami has no chance.
  3. If you wanted a rout, you got one. Miami ain’t no Buffalo.
  4. Dru Joyce lll sighting in the lobby. Good to see him supporting the Zips!
  5. Wish we could play through contact better.
  6. Buffalo moving the ball and getting open looks. Akron isn’t, and aren’t.
  7. Does Ali know he’s allowed to pass?
  8. Ice cold Bell’s Two Hearted as I wait for the Zips tip-off. Kalamazoo’s worst (WMU bb team) might not have made it to Cleveland, but it’s best export did!
  9. Need Freeman to stay out of foul trouble. He's been getting jobbed by the refs in the late-season. DPOY should get him a little more respect...
  10. One Ohio team made it to the round of 32. One made it to the sweet 16. We'll never know what the Chesse/Banks/LCJ/Williams team would have done, but it was the best team I've seen in the JAR wearing a Zips uniform. No one can deny it is a viable argument that he is an equivalent or better coach.
  11. Huggins took over an Akron program that was on probation (previous coach's doings) to the NCAA Tournament in his second year. Although Wikipedia doesn't show it, he also had 2 Akron teams with NIT bids. There's a reason Cincinnati wanted him, and he delivered a Final Four soon after he arrived. Damn good coach wherever he's been. His final two seasons @ UA were as an Independent, with no conference tournament/automatic bid possibility like Dambrot had. But I think a lot of people think in binary terms...either he sucked or he was the Messiah. I like Dambrot. I spent 13 seasons supporting him. But I know Huggins is a better basketball coach. And I'm pretty sure Groce is too. No disrespect to KD. Dambrot was usually the second best coach in the MAC. That's pretty good. But 0 NCAA tourney wins, and 3-9 in MAC Championship finals doesn't get you an A+ grade. More like a solid "B."
  12. Bob Huggins Resume: One of only six coaches ever with 900 or more career victories, Huggins has been to 24 total NCAA tournaments, including 23 in the last 26 seasons. He has led his teams to nine Sweet Sixteen appearances, four Elite Eight appearances, and two Final Four appearances (1992 with Cincinnati; 2010 with West Virginia).
  13. He also recruited Eric McLaughlin, whose jersey hangs in the JAR rafters. And Anthony Buford, who left the Zips after seeing what the future held in Coleman Crawford, and joined Huggins at UC as his starting 2-guard in the Final Four. He also went toe-to-toe with a star-studded Michigan team in the '86 NCAA tourney, with a 6' 3" football player center, and two other role-playing rentals from the football team. 903 career wins. Definitely the best basketball HC in Zips history.
  14. So we get rid of the "Z." If Putin starts placing script Akron on his tanks, howitzers and goon squad T shirts, then what do we do?
  15. Pam Arnold. And it’s the worst player photo ever. It’s like they scanned a 1985 pic from the Beacon and blew it up. Check it out the next time you’re in the JAR.
  16. If anyone finds cheap tourney ticket deals, post them here. I know...Verizon in Macedonia...🙃 (I actually did get free tickets there a few years back).
  17. After a paint gun fight. Is the soccer program jumping to another conference? 😈
  18. Like it better than script Akron already.
  19. A separate sheet detailing the same information for preferred walk-ons would also be helpful.
  20. Best MAC referees ever.
  21. "I'll take plantar fasciitis for 500, Alex."
  22. Groce gave Maishe Daily the longest of long leashes to get on track last season. Towards year's end, he cut his minutes. Same thing with Trimble this year. He's had an incredibly long leash for his incredibly subpar 3-point shooting year. And he brings nothing else to the table aside from his erratic, freakish 3-point potential. I remember a quote from Danny Ainge a few years back. I always felt it was one of the simplest, truest statements regarding players and playing time - "It’s not a coach’s job to give opportunities for everybody. To me, it’s a player’s job to make that coach feel like he needs you on the court to win — because every coach wants to win.” End-of-February/March is winning time. The time to ride out a player's season-long slump has expired. Dawson and Tribble give the Zips the best chance to win.
  23. Next up - improve the FT shooting!
  24. Ball is popping without Trimble. Love it.
  25. Absolutely outstanding start by the Zips.
