I think this team has matured some, and will not allow a repeat embarrassment. When an opponent disrespects you so much that they put their 3rd and 4th string QB's in to reserve their #1 for emergencies, the coach won't need any magic to motivate the team. We will clearly be out matched, but drive can narrow the gap. The team with the most TO's will win. Capt K has been spot on this year, but I would not bet the spread this week. I hope the Zips don't play it safe and just try to survive, but lay it all on the line! Go Zips!

If l could field a team of those 2nd teamers in the MAC, even l would be COTY. I really can't say much; I'm just basing my comment on the numbers. (I'll be back in Ames this week along with Game Day.) However what I have seen of Kato, I would like to see what DJ could do as starter.

In today's presser, nobody asked about our QB position. I get the feeling that we will see both Kato and DJ. I personally feel DJ has earned the start. There was talk about Owl's QB being questionable. No mention of any injuries!

Captain, I'm too lazy to go back and find your prediction, but you nailed it! Irons was a pleasant surprise that spoiled it a bit. Please tell us how you are picking next week; so we all can make some serious change.

Game week is here. As other teams are releasing depth charts, we don't even have an updated roster. Regarding coach Z, I'm speculating this is a health issue. Why else would you make a coaching change in the middle of fall camp?

At least the Indians are doing their part to make it seem like football season.

Some people looking at the roster can't see any hope. I don't think they realize how little it takes to elevate in the MAC. Our very young OL managed to run block pretty well last year. A year of conditioning and maturity along with a QB delivering the ball a little quicker could produce putting points on the board and keeping the D on the sidelines. I am perplexed that we aren't hearing anything about Irons. I expect him to push Kato. It looks like we shored up the D. Looking at the roster won't tell the story. We just need to see come September. In the MAC with a roster full of average talent, all you need to be successful is to add in a few exceptionable players. Time will tell if a few exceptions will show up for the Zips this fall.

Pretty uneventful presser. Green Bay had lowest budget in the Horizon, but they did pretty good. He seems ready to do a lot with little.

Even if l was a golfer, its too far me to make it, but l count on some of you who are much closer to gain some insight on our program. The top of my want to know list is, "Why the heck are you keeping us in the dark?" Are there really 5 RB's in the MAC better than Dollard? Who's stock is rising? Newcomers to the 2 deep? Anything to entice one to buy a season ticket?

Did Guthrie lite a fire under Arth? Looks like nobody cares.

TE? One could watch some film of Iowa State.. Matt Cambell used 3 extensively last season.

GO ZIPS does have interviews and write ups covering other sports. The total absence of any communication from the football staff stinks. Covid times are tough, but when things get tough, the tough get going. Its time to suck it up, and act like they care.

I am truly disappointed. 2021 schedule? I'm getting to the point that I don't care. No one on the football staff or athletic dept seems to have any interest in generating any excitement. I don't bother to read any "I'd rather cover OSU" GT. Spring games build some excitement. If fans can't attend, why can't the U pod cast the game, if they are even going to have one. Are they planning to surprise people in the fall? Won't they be surprised if nobody cares?!

Strength of QB position needs to be proven in the fall. Irons will get a good look in the spring. Keep the faith.

Maybe we will see some high lights from the Buc's past Super Bowl win. TWO big ones by Dwight!

We all see what we want to see. Irons has proven himself at a level beyond HS. If nothing else, this will raise the level of competition at QB. I have not seen anything about Kato's plans for 2021. Passing success is much more than pass blocking. Recognition of where and when to throw the ball, delivering the ball on time, and completing the catch. Recognizing and handling stunts was a real problem for the O-line. Let us see if coaching and hard work can improve that for '21. The O has no where to go but up! The same goes for the D. We got man handled! We had trouble stopping anyone. Can they toughen up? Pass coverage will improve with better pass rush. Will Arth & staff be here and able to lead this team to an improved '21 version? I think they will be here. We will see if they are able.

Zipfan21, there is some fault with lack of protection. Failure to pick up blitzers was a problem, but that extra rusher left a hole for a hot reciever. There is no way to competently evaluate performance from our couch; so like everyone else here, I'm just spouting opinions. That green O-line blocked for a 1st team RB. Sure there were some drops, but everyone has some. I believe improved QB performance will make a big difference for us. Keeping the defense off the field longer being big. I also think producing more wins next year really falls on the D. If there is a statistic for D forcing 3&outs and punts, I think we could be on the bottom. Can the staff bring in some help or coach up what we have to make a difference? We will know this time next year.

I felt that with a competent QB, we would have had 1000% better O this year. Our 2 signees could be #1 & 2 in the fall. Jankowski will be here for spring practice? And Irons will play his JUCO season in the spring. As LZip said, I would use those 6 or 8 Scholarships to fill some holes with transfers or JUCO's. Also welcome some more walk ons(Freeman!).
