  1. I wonder if adding Ali to the rotation will speed our game up. Competing for minutes will bring everyone's intensity up. Ali is not coming off an injury. He has been practicing all along, and will hit the ground hungry and running. Look out NK!
  2. Kentucky is not in the mix for a shot at the national championship. I would love to talk to a recriut (HS, JUCO, or transfer) about the chance to go up against the best. If that prospect shy's away from that oportunity, it might be time to move on. What is the difference between a 3-star and a 4-star? The 4 is committed to one of the big boys. We can give the 3 a chance to PLAY 4 years and show he was 4 star material.
  3. Too bad they didn't name themselves Utah Technical Institute.
  4. Is this the early signing day for BB?
  5. First 8 games, total 4th quarter scoring-28 that includes the last miniute scoop and score in Morgan state game. That says a lot. The staff and players had a lot more faith than I. Before this come back, I could envision anyone with talent, players and staff, entering the portal. Some of the comments in the post game presser convinced me that this group is commited to turn things around. Lingard, "I'll be back." Give him a miniute with our recriutes. Gathings: Trash talking is part of our culture. Let's just get him to tone it back a bit.
  6. JU came through in a way I didn't expect. MVP? He will need to share it with Lingard. I felt Lingard put the Zips on his shoulders several times and carried the team to victory.
  7. I still have a few Thirsty Dogs and Hopping Frogs left over from my annual trip to Akron to make the night go better.
  8. I have forgotten about Jankowski. He came in with great potential. He just might be the spark we need. I'm now looking for one of our 3 untested QB's to start.
  9. I'm looking forward to Steele puttting some whip cream on this game. He will cinnamon stick it to Cant. This kid performed at a high level in HS; that is why we recruited him. It will be best to find out now if we haVe our QB of the future.
  10. These guys have had 3 months of practice since spring. It's time to see what they can do. There won't be much pressure with mostly parents and girl friends in attendance.
  11. Clark, this season is a dumpster fire. Any additional hot air will only fan the flemes!
  12. That didn't work out too well when we tried TB. I know that a win over Cant is top priority, but l think our best chance is to give our young QB's a chance. They will have a few extra days to work with the No one's, and remember they have been leading our scout team against a D that is probably much better than Cants. If l see JU or TB start next Wednessday, I'll go straight to the hard stuff to ease my pain. Remember JU is rated 159 out of 160! I don't think TB has enough attemps to be rated.
  13. Pro Football Focus rates QB play. Out of 160 QB's with minimal action, Jeff Underperformer is listed 159; one better than Iowa's Deacon Hill. I say again; can either of the young QB's perform any worse? It truely is time to find out!!
  14. Our 2 young QB's have a couple of spring practices and have been running the scout team. It is not like they have no idea what's up. They will keep their red shirt if that was a concern. Can they perform any worse? It's time to find out!
  15. I'll help. U of Iowa had 2 .500 seasons from 1961 through 1980. Thay's 20 long years without a winning season.
  16. If we take away 4 rushing plays, we held Brown to way under 100 yards!
  17. Ouch! If you invite a recriut, you better be ready with your A-game.
  18. Kent? Ohio?
  19. 72 Roo listed much that needs to be addressed. I would add the 2 point attemps in OT. Both IU chances had wide open recievers. We had no chance? I still think we can have a soccessful season.
  20. Interesting to read; however I think they were just looking at the stats. Aside of 2 long TD's(one of which was redicules), our D did pretty well at UK. I have not looked at any film; it just seemed to me that UK got most of their pressure with stunts. One more week together could make a big difference there. The QB doesn't need 5 seconds to get the ball down field, he needs to get a better read before the snap to look for his best target. I can even put up with some thows behind the line of scrimage if they get the ball in front of the reciever; so he is headed down field ATC. I know it won't be easy, but our leaders (players and coaches) need to get everyone to play expecting to win rather than playing not to loose. That doesn't mean pulling out all the tricks from the back of the play book. Just dig deep, and play within yourself. I know that an Akron W will be an upset, but I'm tuning in tonight expecting to fly the flag.
  21. UA. 24 IU. 17 I think most hoped for a 2/2 start; this is our chance. The Hooshers generated a lot of offense without putting up points. That will continue this week. We will continue to show the need for much improvement, but do enough to fly the flag.
  22. Were there new faces on the OL this week?
  23. We saw a much improved Zip squad, but penalties continue to be a problem. Irons may need more time to recover from off season surgery, but next week should give us an oportunity to look at #2QB. The 2 late sacks were not entirely the fault of the OL. Temple totally sold out on the run and went all out on rushing the passer. Often the biggest improvement comes in the second game. I'm hopefull.
  24. 8-5 OC: 2-2 Temple-W How we look in Philly will tell us a lot. MAC: 5-3 Tough bounces finally go our way, but just miss Detroit. Wagon wheel comes home. Bowl: W G5 match up
  25. If Bullock pans out (3 years of eligability), we may see Wasel in the portal. I would hope that Morehead can find the oportunity to give Wasel some meaningful minutes without loosing his redshirt year. Keeping both engaged this year could lead to some great competition in '24.
