zippy5 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Coach of the year and player of the year. Congrats!!! http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/akrons_isaiah_johnson_keith_da.html#incart_river_index 1 Quote
zippy5 Posted March 8, 2017 Author Report Posted March 8, 2017 Big Dog with 21 first place votes to Keene's 7. KD with 21 to Saul Phillips' 9. Didn't think they would run away with either award. Quote
LZIp Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Congrats to both! Happily wrong regarding Big Dog winning. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Happily right on Big Dog winning! Surprised about KD. Usually he doesn't win unless he's essentially perfect, and we stubbed our toe down the stretch. The kid from Akron done good! Now get to the Big Dance! I'll puke if I see any MAC team but the Zips whooping it up as the brackets are announced on Sunday night! Quote
skip-zip Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 I thought all along (and expressed it) that Dog would be POY. But Keith is a complete shock. Deserved, but I didn't think they'd give it to him this year. Quote
skip-zip Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) WAIT....am I reading this right?? It says at the end that this is Keith's first year he was voted best coach? I think this is his THIRD ?? EDIT: It now says THIRD, and shows that the article was updated at 12pm...LOL Edited March 8, 2017 by skip-zip Quote
MDZip Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) I could have seen them giving it to Saul Phillips for getting to the second seed after losing last years POY. But it wasn't like it they were that far out in front of everyone else since there was a four way tie for second and the Zips won the conference by three games. I think that's Keith's third in the last five years though so glad to see him getting recognition for the great job he has been doing. And I think Big Dog is only the second POY under Keith? Travis being the first? And who the hell voted for Senderoff to finishing below expectations? Edited March 8, 2017 by MDZip Quote
zippy5 Posted March 8, 2017 Author Report Posted March 8, 2017 I thought Saul had a good case. This should be KD's to lose every year, but most times he is a victim of his own success. ie, if he doesn't win the league going away, someone else will get it for exceeding expectations. Quote

The Hip Zip Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Thank God... I would have had a major spasm had Keene won the POY. Congrats Bid Dog and Keith. Quote
NWAkron Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Wasn't even close. Who in the hell voted for Pinky? Maybe for his skill in rounding up five random players and a kid from Richfield and ending over .500. 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Mr. Pinky strikes again. He wasn't worthy of COY of Portage County. Someone needs their credentials reviewed. Congrats to KD and Big Dog. I figured they'd both get screwed. I've been an NEO sports fan waaaaaaaaay too long. Quote

Not "donate the entire arena." A couple million to get the arena project jump started would be nice, and we can call it the LeBron James Arena and LeBron James Family Foundation Court. Quote
