72 Roo Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Great pic. Thank you for posting it. Buchtel Filed was better than I thought it would be. We have a proud history even though thru the last 10 years we have been up and down, mostly down. Let's not give up on our team. We can achieve so much more with the right attitude, vision and staff. I hope this is a beginning. Time will tell. 1 Quote
Cykron Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Stadium lights in 1892. That seems pretty early. Impressive. That's almost 100 years before Wrigley Field! Quote
Hilltopper Posted December 18, 2019 Report Posted December 18, 2019 Doubtful that photo is from 1892. 1 Quote
Aaron Posted December 18, 2019 Report Posted December 18, 2019 Glad I'm not the only one to see that... houses in the background look like pre-fab, and the transformers there weren't invented until the teens. I would guess that pic is post WW1 - maybe 1920s? Quote

I think we used to march there on Thursdays for ROTC. It was parade day or something. But I do not recall the bleachers. Must have been torn down before the mid 1960's Quote

Ham Posted January 13, 2020 Report Posted January 13, 2020 That was our practice field in the early 60's with locker room at the N end. There was a square 1/4 mile track around the field with a baseball field from the SW corner that had very small portable bleachers. At that time, it also was used as our ROTC parade grounds. Quote
