Great pic. Thank you for posting it. Buchtel Filed was better than I thought it would be. We have a proud history even though thru the last 10 years we have been up and down, mostly down. Let's not give up on our team. We can achieve so much more with the right attitude, vision and staff. I hope this is a beginning. Time will tell.

Stadium lights in 1892.  That seems pretty early.  Impressive.  That's almost 100 years before Wrigley Field!

Glad I'm not the only one to see that... houses in the background look like pre-fab, and the transformers there weren't invented until the teens.  I would guess that pic is post WW1 - maybe 1920s?

Doubtful that photo is from 1892.

Ya. Chain link fence, all the electrical poles, the little shed in the right hand corner. Like someone said looks more like pre-fab stuff. Anyway, interesting stuff.

I think those are power lines and not lights

Buchtel field photo was taken 1934

That makes sense. No TV antennas!

I think we used to march there on Thursdays for ROTC. It was parade day or something. But I do not recall the bleachers. Must have been torn down before the mid 1960's

That was our practice field in the early 60's with locker room at the N end.  There was a square 1/4 mile track around the field with a baseball field from the SW corner that had very small portable bleachers.  At that time, it also was used as our ROTC parade grounds.

Bill Connelly historical analysis of Zips Football via twitter thread

His study is not a fair analysis. It is lazy journalism.

Could someone provide some narrative to explain why this is good news (and/or lazy journalism)?

That's a lazy answer.

I'm not the one asking someone else to do his thinking for him.
