Some of the PCCC fans are asking a very good question-  where were the coaches?  There seem to be a couple of non-players in the background.

As much as I enjoy Mr. Pinky's recruits showing their true selves, I really hope the Zips don't need "bulletin board material" to get up for this one.

“…not reflective of the core values of Kent…” Riiiiiiight.👌

Interesting, it's the level of language for a graduate level composition class at Kent.

They are not smart people.

My issue with the MAC Kent State decision is that their Decision has now made the video more than what it was. Before the their statement No One was checking for that video. Now their decision has made the Video Viral smh.

I rep #MACtion but please believe I can't stand #MACtion

Should a stayed quiet and let them kids play it out on the court. It's a bitter rivalry for christ sake.

Some thoughts from random people:

One loyal Zips fan:  "This all started when Senderoff condoned and encouraged going after the Akron fans."

Another mid-level Zips fan:  "they deserve it."

A Kent grad but not the biggest Basketball fan:  "Sendy should be fired."

I think their reaction was in response to a quickly spreading video, not the cause of its spread.  Their response just adds a layer, actually a positive layer for PCCC to the story.

One of the things that college coaches need to teach their student athletes is to have respect for your opponent.  I still remember before the tip off I would see student athletes acknowledge each other with a few words before the game and I have not seen that lately.  Further, as I have indicated earlier, I have seen Ali talk to the opposing bench after he hits a three.  I have not seen it during the tournament and hopefully Groce has spoken to Ali on this issue.  Student athletes are supposed to represent their respective school and that video is embarrassment to Kent.

Good for Kent.

Every person in the arena tonight will have seen or heard it.  The video sets a horrible tone for tonight.  This will be the first thing mentioned by the commentators and will be repeated throughout the game because it adds DRAMA.

Whoever loses tonight will be even more bitter.  But this rests with Senderoff.

Exactly why the "disciplinary" action is weak. The head honcho is unscathed.

He smirked and 100% encouraged the dust up at the JAR.  Now, everyone knows what we've been saying for years about that program.

Some were in the back and weren't participating.  Apart from Jacobs these were nobodies.   Has nothing to to with Zips.  Stay focused guys. As for the song, different tastes.

I get that. If the guys stay true to one possession at a time like Groce has been emphasizing, they should stay focused. But that's easier said than done.

As a coach myself, it just hurts seeing this happen at the level above me. I have been told numerous times by one of my mentors that I look up to in the high school coaching ranks:

"You are what you tolerate" and "it's not what you do, it's how you do what you do"

Recruiting, Culture, etc. all is on the head coach over there at PCCC. I actually think if the MAC and Kent State is going to suspend players even for a half, there needs to be something for at least the head coach too (a sizeable fine). He has let those players down by the culture set in place there for years. The players are responsible for their behaviors, but they tolerate it.

"The culture of any organization is shaped by the worst behavior the leader is willing to tolerate".

I know this post isn't focused on the Zips and this will be the last I bring this situation up. Too much PCCC talk here for me. Off the soap box now.

I hope the Zips win by 30 and Ali has 20+ tonight. #GetYourShoesReadyMartha #GoZips

I believe that Kent has favored thugs in their basketball recruitment for years. The real blame here is with the coaches and administrators who certainly knew the kind of individuals that made up their roster. The video simply publicly shows what everyone already knew- the players were putting their lack of character on display for the world to see. Kent State did only what they needed to do given the moment- but the root causes are still intact and we can predict it will happen again unless other action is taken. Doubt Kent will do that because, after all, they are Kent!

Now, anyone from the AK Rowdies reading this… can you please, for the love of God, not start any f Kent State chants tonight?  Kent state has been exposed as trashy to the entire nation, don’t join them.

Unless Akron takes advantage of the 'disciplinary action,' Pinky will have three guys with rested legs chomping at the bit to get in there in the 2nd half.

Again, action taken was weak and didn't include any of the coaching staff or other choir boy players they have over there who I'm SURE had nothing to do with it.

EDIT: Memory is fuzzy ... once upon a time, CMU fired a head coach over something that happened in the locker room or on the practice floor. Any recall out there?

When Tyler bumped the ref at BG, Williams etc al got proactive and suspended him for the Buffalo game.  Then the MAC is like...ok...good enough.   Same happened here...they got on it and did the minimal possible.  But espn is correct, "one of the nation's most bitter rivalries."
