The first official NET rankings are out. For those not aware this is the metric the NCAA created to replace RPI for the purpose of evaluating resumes and to help seed teams. This is how the MAC currently stands.

1) Kent St. - 24

2) Akron - 137

3) Toledo - 156

4) Ball St - 165

5) Ohio - 182

6) Buffalo - 185

7) CMU - 220

'8) NIU - 287

9) BGSU - 295

10) EMU - 325

11) Miami - 329

12) WMU - 338

I am sure we got a big boost after beating Muskingon so handily.

Kent is hanging around with Gonzaga at the break. Zags shoot like the Zips from the perimeter and free throw line.

this is beyond depressing.  may not take that week off in March like I usually do

Flashes up 4 at the final media. 68-game Zags home win streak on the line. Yeah, they’re for real. Zips have a big hill to climb this year.

There is a God.

Disaster avoided and sanity prevails. Zags remembered they were the Zags.  Carry isn’t very good in these big time games.  th

Ravenna A & M up 66-62 with 3:41 secs left.   They lose 73-66.   Sad state of affairs.

Has Sincere Carry ever shot >35% in a big game? Genuine question.

a sincere question.  This is what big time programs (like UCLA) do.  they turn it on when it counts.  If it's going to be a knock down, dog fight under the basket, the blue blood teams will win unless the underdog is hot from 3.  l

looking at play by play.  Kent goes up by 4 with a 3 by Thomas.  Pinky calls time out and then its the under 4 TV time out.  They didn't score after that.  WTF??

The Dukes really needed this chicken soup for the soul. They're in the middle of a 9 game(!) home stand. Marshall, who needs a punch in the nose, is next.

Well this aged like 2 week old milk

Marshall 46 36 82

Duquesne 27 44 71

Marshall now 8-1 and has only trailed for 7 min and 42 seconds this year so far.

And we were an average shooting night from potentially knocking them off.

We're 8 games into the season, which is a decent sample size. We're shooting 40% from the field, 31.9% from 3, and 60.3% from the free throw line. Our average shooting night is still pretty horrendous.

A slow day at the office today so figured I'd share the latest NET rankings.

33 Kent St.

141 Ball St.

144 Akron

156 Toledo

189 Ohio

210 Buffalo

252 Bowling Green

285 Central Mich.

304 NIU

310 Eastern Mich.

330 Miami (OH)

343 Western Mich.

The MAC is truly an embarrassment this year. If you take out Kent, which is a clear outlier, the conference is on par with the Horizon League.

Lou was a fine or better coach for St John's in the Big East for many years, and from all appraisals a fine human being. I had a chance to meet and watch Lou's son Chauncey Orr after he transferred from BGSU to Hawaii Pacific U. A really good family!  😭

Akron and Toledo have really dropped the ball in nonconference play as they should be on par with Kent. What should have been one of the MAC’s best seasons has proved to be one of the worst so far. Lots of underachieving across the board.

If you ditch the game against powerhouse Muskingon the stats would probably be worse.

Not worried.  The Zips lack of size will help make up for the shooting.  😁

This is twice in this thread you have mentioned Muskingon.

Who the hell is Muskingon?

Not the MAC, but Ali made his debut for Butler today. In 13 minutes off the bench, went 1-4 from the floor, 3-3 on FTs for 6 points. They lost by 22 at home to UConn.

BE conference play already? That's a tough opponent to try to rehab against.
