Every single possession matters. These guys take way too many off. They should learn that by now after the Utah State—and now UNLV—games. Scott trying to run the break out of control, or Freeman doing the same at any point in the game, can be the difference.

The bread and butter of the last two seasons was being methodical and slowing things down do get the best possible look. This team tries to do too much too fast. Nice comeback, but should have never dug themselves into that hole. Put on your big boy pants for Bradley.

Our guards are pretty bad right now. Thornton can't even recognize when Freeman seals off a defender to give him an open drive to the hoop. Somebody is going to have to step up.

I have not been impressed with any of our guards this game but I think Thornton has been the worse.  I counted at least 4 turnovers on just bad passes.

The slow starts are absolutely killing our results. We waste way too many possessions in the beginning.

Nice comeback - just came up a little short.

Yup, just 1 score from being 5-2. We just have to learn how to finish in these close games. Where have I seen this movie before?

Disappointing but not unexpected loss.  The guards are certainly behind where I thought they would be.  Given what we've seen of John Groce I have faith in him figuring it out and getting the team on track.

Johnson and Thorton were a combined 0 points and 5 turnovers.  Groce is a master at finding great guards.  This team is just not meshing right now.  He went with Thornton instead of Johnson as a starter and they both played bad.  Neither one can penetrate and finish at the rim and they have not been scoring from the outside.  We can live with them being facilitators but not turning the ball over.

Of our 6 (real) games so far:

- FIU is the only opposing team we've outscored in points in the paint

- Tavari Johnson, Kaleb Thornton, and Shammah Scott have combined to average 4.8 PPG, 5.3 APG, and 4.8 TOPG

That’s as bad as it gets. It’s parallel to our Zips quarterback situation.

IDK. UNLV lost to Southern University and A&M by 14 at home. The only constant production is from a walk on.The Zips seem to be undersized and have a lot of players that are projects.

The projects...

Tavari

Scott

Thornton

Nate

Lyles

4 of the 5 are guards - and our only guards (Tribble doesn't really count). That's not a recipe for success.

I don't get it.  Tavari, Scott and Thornton are all guys that have previously played meaningful minutes.  I don't expect any of them to be X or LCJ but the three of them should combing to give us above average point guard play.  They also need to be some kind of scoring threat when Tribble is on the floor due to his offensive limitations.  I'm confident one of them will step up (much like I was confident Maishe Dailey would come around).

Maishe will always have that game winner against Toledo

From a stats POV this game seemed very even. I didn't get to watch the game, only listen, but it seemed like it came down to just the turnover battle and some poor shot selection on a couple possessions. 18 TO is pretty rough, we gotta just take care of the basketball.

We were 12-12 on FTs, 8-18 on 3s, and won the total rebounds by 3. If we can replicate these 3 stats, we should win 80-85% of the time.

This team has tremendous potential and is still the top of the MAC. Take care of the basketball, make your free throws, and take smart shots, that is how this team is going to win.

When none of your point guards can penetrate or finish it puts pressure on the rest of the team.  When they doubled Freeman it led to his 5 turnovers.  He needs to be able to pass to somebody off of the double team to an open man.  When it happened last night there were numerous quick passes but no guard to make a shot.  Groce has to figure out some scheme to get the guards open shots on the double team.  Watch the last possession when Tribble got stuck in the lane with no outlet.

I just watched that last possession, Tribble was set up perfectly for a lob to Enrique but he just couldn't see it. There was just too much standing around on the arc when he picked up his dribble. Perfect spot for a timeout, just unfortunately didn't have any

Good effort!!  Like what I saw on cable.  Hate what I paid to get channel subscription then download app to watch.   But I like this team.
I also like the way Groce is coaching this team.

You paid? MW app and the stream was free.

Didn't even download an app...just watched it on the Mountain West web site. Two clicks, and there it was in hi-def.

Yup, this is also a method.

Phenomenal job by the Mountain West to make their conference's athletics so accessible.
