Week 12 Ohio

I thought the fake punt was so predictable I had my eye on the up men blocking instead of the kicker.  If I knew it was coming, why couldn't our football coaches figure this out.  I thought that was the turning point in the game because they scored the go ahead touchdown.

And for those looking for a good point to the end of the season, Cuffler's last pass of his career was not an interception.

I can't resist commenting on this game, the last of our Titanic-like cruise of a season.

  • The field looked great on TV
  • Play calling continued to be poor. Solution: give the damn ball to Lingard, brilliant on my part seeing that we have no QB and no one else has ever pushed that idea 🙄
  • Joe got out-coached
  • Last season we got a glimpse of Joe's creative offense. I couldn't wait to see what he would do with better talent. It came and the offense exited the building
  • This team has no discipline. The coaches seem to tolerate it so it has continued to the very end. Never corrected.
  • We have become very good at finding a way to lose.
  • Considering our QB's we are now in a worse position going into next season than we were going into this season. Instead of getting the QB room better it has gotten worse.
  • The scheduling of OSU seems to be a short term act of desperation to get some money. Unfortunately it does not appear to be consistent with long term goals of building a program. Winning builds a program.

Hope we can keep Tibesar around. Sure there were some breakdowns but the defense was absolutely a positive this year.

Just imagine what a solid offense do for the defense. Long drives give the D a breather and actually putting points on the board let’s it breath and give different looks.

The term is "complementary football". Akron played it in the first half of the game Friday. Not so much in the second.

Which is a huge reason for the frustration with JoeMo. When you hire JoeMo, you expect to not have to worry about the offense. The fact that we have a pretty stellar defense in his second year but a putrid offense is puzzling as hell.

Puzzling AS HELL!

Indeed.

And what boggled my mind was how they seemingly kept trying to ram square pegs into round holes with the QB talent we didn't have.  Good coaches don't do that.  In maybe six consecutive weeks' postgame pressers JoMo said, "We've got to find a way to get Lingard more touches."  What does that freaking mean?!  You call the freaking plays!  WTF?

I thought I read or heard somewhere that Fessler had been calling plays this season which makes a lot more sense with how the offense looked. Why would JoMo delegate that very important duty...especially allowing it to drag on all season???

You're right. I heard that too... maybe read it on here?  But JoMo's constantly looking at his IHOP menu on the sideline & communicating with someone, i.e., it sure looks like he's calling the plays.  And besides, I don't think our program's at the point where he can delegate that responsibility... especially considering how our offense underperformed all year. I don't want JoeMo to pull another Bowden & derail his career here by refusing to take back play calling duties from a young underling who isn't yet ready for the responsibility.

Not sure why anyone would have expected anything different. Pathetic excuse of a football "program". I'll always watch and stick around, always support. But im not sure why I would even think about buying any Akron merch, tickets, donations, etc. in this holiday season. I know they dont care, but show me success then i'll buy bakc in financially. Until then we'll always be the pathetic football school in the corner of Ohio.

I do like the helmets at least. 🙃
