The first question is really this:

"Did you know that the University of Akron is a Division 1 school?"

😂

I like that question, because I believe that the Akron Beacon Journal does not know this.  Their reporting is so poor when it comes to Akron athletics.  Think how good Women's Swimming and Diving is and Track and Field - plus other team sports on campus.

UA is a D 1 school and they should shout it from the "Buchtel Summit’s glory."

To be fair, ABJ reporting on everything has gone downhill.

I didn't know where else to put this other than this thread, but I've been encouraged over the last month by the efforts to market and promote the team more. Giveaways, theme nights, The Outback, some actual in-game entertainment, bringing back an in-game host. I love to see it all and hope it continues.

Guthrie leaves and UA Athletics Marketing begins to flourish?

Is this the first signs of growth since Charles' Arby's-inspired revelation?

I thought the same. I know Larry Williams was often seen as doing more harm than good when it came to men's hoops, so I'm wondering if the same thing was going on with Guthrie.

My view of attendance is this. The experience of those at the game is more important than those who don't go. If the Athletic Department put it's best foot forward for the attendees given what they have, I'm good. They can't control the bad time and day of the week in last night's example.

Getting to a 6 PM game on Friday is difficult for a lot of people.  When I go to a sporting event, I won't allow myself to be rushed. I like to go for a couple of beers, at least, before the game and take my time... maybe a decent meal. If I can't, I won't go. If I still lived in Akron, I would not have gone last night. I'd rather go to a game on Monday night than Friday night.
