clarkwgriswold
The 7-16 Broncos come to the JAR Tuesday night fresh off of an 83-57 thrashing at the hands of Georgia Southern in the MAC/SBC Challenge. Western is 4-6 in the MAC with wins over Ball State, PCCC, NIU and EMU. 6’2” junior guard Chansey Willis leads scoring at 15.2 ppg. Chansey is a transfer from Henry Ford College ( a new one for Captain’s list). They are 11th in offense and 8th in defense in the MAC. They are last in three point percentage. They are second to the Zips in rebounding.
kreed5120
On the post game Groce said that WMU is the best offensive rebounding team in the MAC by rebounding percentage. As long as we hold our own on the glass and don't make too many unforced errors, we should be able to comfortably win.

As long as the 2013 VCU game flu doesn't hit the team, we should win very comfortably.

When they decided to move on from him they promoted one of his under performing assistants, who they gave the job because he agreed to taking it on a trial basis while still making only an assistants salary. Not sure about Stephens, but his tenure isn't looking so hot. A prime example of the many MAC programs that have stripped funding from all sports so they can spend every last penny on football. It's why MAC hoops as a whole has been in decline. Edited February 9 by kreed5120
1981 grad
It is game day and I am expecting a half empty jar even though Akron has the longest winning streak in the country. I could sense Groce's frustration on the post game last Tuesday where he encouraged Zip fans to show up and support our team. Unfortunately, if you are listening to the post game you are already a Zip fan and Groce is preaching to the choir. For those that are going tonight, we may be few but lets be loud!!!!!! (and not just when Evan Wilson gets into the game)
clarkwgriswold
Some snippets from the WMU site- The Broncos continue to rank among the league's best in rebounding, leading the MAC in offensive rebounding (13.1), ranking second in overall rebounding (37.7) and fourth in rebounding margin (+2.9). Western Michigan is also leading the way in offensive rebounding in conference play (13.5) and is second in overall rebounding (37.4) in MAC contests. The WMU trio of Owen Lobsinger (7.2, 3rd), Max Burton (5.6, 14th) and Donovan Williams (5.3, 18th) are all among the league's top-20 rebounders this season. Western Michigan has had 10 or fewer turnovers 11 times this season, including eight games with single-digit miscues. At 11.0 per contest, WMU is committing the second-fewest turnovers in the conference. Akron enters Tuesday night's matchup with a 39-22 record in the all-time series with the Broncos. The Zips have been especially dominant on their home floor, winning 22 of the 27 prior meetings in Akron. Western Michigan's last road win in the series came back on Jan. 3, 2004. The two teams split last season's meetings, with WMU winning at home on Senior Night to punch its ticket to Cleveland for the MAC Tournament. They would have made tournament even with a loss, but the Ball State loss as well helped. OT: Train wreck program: read up on the Green Bay Phoenix and their major SOB of a coach. He's likely hoping to be fired in order to get a pay day.

They even lost to "Nowhere U."

clarkwgriswold
Looks like it is going to be a disappointing crowd for the team with the longest win streak in the country.

Z.I.P.
If the Zips manage to win a game in the NCAA tournament this year, I predict Bowen Hardman will play a big role with getting open outside the circle and knocking out the opponent. BTW, one of my favorite plays in bb is the drop-back pass, such as the one Seth Wilson took for the open 3-ball. It's practically impossible to block or defend.

Illini Zip
Are we slow to the ball or is it bouncing their way? They are getting plenty of second chance opportunities.
