We didn't shoot well for much of the game, but found a way to win. Much better defense in the 2nd half. In the first half we seemed to play off and allowed Miami to do what they wanted.

Pulling out a win when you have been completely outplayed almost the entire game is awesome. Great job Zips!

Ironic, how many times last year did Groce pull Tevari for bad defense.  In the last possession Tevari played his best defense of the game.  A quick outlet and Nate was off to the races.  That is 2 games in a row that we won the championship in the last seconds of the game.  Was anybody else having nightmares when the Miami player hoisted  a prayer from beyond half court?  Now lets win our first NCAA game.

Well this one went exactly as many on here said it would.  Akron would come back and Miami would cool off.

 

Now they get a few days off before what sure looks like a trip to Seattle

That's the thought that crossed my mind. I can't recall which Akron player who was defending, but cutting off the Miami players path to force him to pick up his dribble early helped.

Wow, did not realize it was that bad.  Were we that good on defense, or did Miami run out of gas, or did they choke.  It does not make a difference.  We made some clutch plays and deserved the win.

They also kept saying it has been 15 year since Miami made the NCAA tournament.  Miami last won the MAC Tournament in 2007...
