Let'sGoZips94 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Bringing this information here as it's more pertinent. @kreed5120 did the top 5 MAC teams in another thread, but I want to expand on that so we can laugh at Ohio. Akron - 42 Buffalo - 87 Miami OH - 108 Bowling Green - 111 Toledo - 150 Kent - 157 EMU - 170 UMass - 208 NIU - 257 CMU - 285 Ohio - 287(!) WMU - 292 Balls - 340(!) For comparison, if I'm not mistaken, the MAC had 4 teams in the top 200 to end last season. If this trend of 7+ teams in the top 200 continues, look for the MAC to be both very competitive and highly thought of come March (in comparison to previous years). Top 200 Teams by Non P4 + Big East Conference: America East: 1 American: 7 ASUN: 2 A10: 9 (8 are top 100) Big Sky: 7 Big South: 2 Big West: 7 CAA: 7 CUSA: 5 Horizon: 6 Ivy: 4 MAAC: 4 MAC: 7 MEAC: 0 Mountain West: 9 MVC: 8 NEC: 3 OVC: 3 Patriot: 3 SoCon: 3 Southland: 5 Summit: 3 Sun Belt: 6 SWAC: 0 WAC: 4 WCC: 7 The MAC is positioning itself to be in the top half of conferences, which is a huge improvement compared to recent seasons. 1 Quote
Zips1991 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago I was curious were Akron ranked in terms of NCAA team offense leaders. Turns out we're 5th at 96.1 points per game. But, more surprising was Kent State at 3rd with 97.2 points per game. That hasn't been their style in recent years. Although, I guess it wasn't our style until last year either. Quote

ZIPS96 Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago BG up 13 on Kansas State with under 3 minutes left Quote
csims0917 Posted 12 hours ago Author Report Posted 12 hours ago It’s basically a wrap. The MAC gets its 2nd P4 win of the season. Bowling green is about to skyrocket in the rankings Quote

csims0917 Posted 12 hours ago Author Report Posted 12 hours ago Kansas State was 55 in NET that’s a Q1 win for BG and the conference Quote
MDZip Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago So Bowling Green had to wait until Nate Johnson moved to K-State to beat him? 😉 3 1 Quote

Let'sGoZips94 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago What a win for Todd Simon and his BUGS squad. Got revenge on their former player, big man Marcus Johnson, and beat Nate Johnson in the same game. Nate got his bag, which is awesome for him, but Akron also gained a lot of freedom with his departure. I was never overly impressed with his game and often thought he was a detriment to the team with his style of play that commanded the basketball. Ball movement often died in his hands and there were moments where he was seemingly asleep at the wheel. I will forever appreciate his winning shot vs. Miami OH, but both parties - Nate and Akron - benefitted with him going to Kansas State. The MAC is looking mighty solid this year. Quote

When you look at the Akron team, you have you have 3 guys who have played together for several years that have just prospered under Groce. Meanwhile, Nate gets paid big bucks but is thrown in with an entirely new team and new coach. I think there will be an adjustment period for the players to come together as a team or the coach paid big bucks for guys who just cannot play well together. Time will tell. Quote

Maybe so but I don't think 4 pts in 32 minutes vs Bowling Green is exactly the type of ROI K-State is looking for with their alleged 7 figure investment in Nate. If he was struggling vs Kansas or someone like that, sure, but Bowling Green? Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 9 minutes ago Report Posted 9 minutes ago Troy lost to West Georgia last night, dropping Kent's NET down to 165. Bowling Green is up to 63 in NET, putting them one spot behind Ohio State for the 2nd highest ranked school in Ohio. 1 Quote
