The best counterargument I've seen is posing the question if his son was one of the best 68 candidates for the job as they are currently 11th in the SEC (bottom half) at 6-10 in conference.

The answer is no

If someone broke the microphone of the woman who does the Zips on-court MC-ing, would the fine be similar? Asking for a friend.

I don't know if you went over to kent for the game friday, but their emcee might be even worse than ours. Basically like a 40 year old manchild wearing a cut-off t-shirt and you couldn't even understand what he was saying. He fit in with the crowd very well

He can be unhappy but Pearl is not wrong. Miami (or Akron) probably would finish in the lower half of the Big East conference.

Pearl is a cheater and liar. If the Zips were 33-1 with Miami resume, Id want them in the tournament.

I love how quickly the sports world forgets about the cheaters and liars

what we want is different from what "we" or "they" deserve.

The thing is that's subjective. I don't think anyone can really argue that Miami's résumé is at least on the bubble and deserves a look. From there it just depends on how one weighs things.

That's the problem with a committee picking the teams. Everyone has their own opinion and weighs things differently. What you might feel deserves more importance @clarkwgriswold might not or vice versa.

It's about money.

Miami's look by the selection committee will be VERY quick if they have one loss and particularly fast if that loss is by a few possessions or more.

Whomever our Promotions Director is will not be working in the Atlanta Hawks organization any time soon.

I think that was a safe assumption before this. 😅

Probably 25 years ago my softball team played in Kent, and went to Ray’s Place for post game beers. One evening they held “Pimp and Ho Night”.

Several guys in fur coats and fedoras with their over-make-upped girls in fishnet stockings vied for a cash prize.

Those were different times…good ones tho’ 😀

Friday is not only senior night but it's Faith and Family Night.  Swearing in the stands will not be permitted.

This reminds me of an airport recently 'banning crocs and pajamas'... is there really a promo that says that 'swearing will not be permitted?' 😂

Sayler is getting destroyed in the comments. The facade is fading quickly for Miami OH.

It was an ignorant tweet. If he actively scheduled 3-5 games against teams like Yale, McNeese St, any of the top half teams in the MVC, etc. nobody would be commenting on the lack of a P5 game on their schedule. If anyone did risk assessment it was Miami. Actively avoiding quality mid-majors, but expecting a mid-tier (not a Purdue, Alabama, UM, Duke, etc.) to agree to play you.

Edit: I will give him Wright State as a quality mid-major. He needed another 2-4 (excluding SunBelt challenge)

Yup. You can't have Wright State as your best controllable OOC opponent and claim that nobody will play you. Absurd take.

The question has to be asked: did they intentionally create a weak schedule to pad their success in order to push the new arena?

I've seen some discussion surrounding Miami that Sayler would only play P4 teams if they agreed to a home-and-home. He obviously knows that isn't happening, so I have to assume this was intentional and he could still try the "nobody would play us!" nonsense.

Getting destroyed is an understatement.

A sampling:

Completely wrong. High majors played tougher schedules than ever this year. You are just trying to protect Miami for not putting in effort in building it. I promise if high majors are scheduling Yale and Akron, they will schedule Miami.

You are unfortunately the last person to be talking about competitive courage when 11/14 of your non conference games were either an NAIA school, a D2 school, or a D1 that ranked 285 or below out of 365 teams. Maybe you should listen to your own preaching.

Was pushing a $250M+ new arena project part of Miami OH's incentivization to schedule 3 non DI teams and have the toughest controllable mid major be Wright State? P4s aside, there doesn't appear to have been a legit attempt to target truly competitive opponents.
