clarkwgriswold Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM (edited) The Zips head out to Oxford this weekend to face the Redhawks in a 3:00 Saturday tilt. The Redhawks stand at 13-0 heading into Tuesday night’s game at BG. The Redhawks wins include Trinity Christian, Indiana East, Milligan and Our Lady of the Elms. The Redhawks lost their second highest scorer when Evan Isapro went down last week. 6’8” redhirt sophomore wing Brant Byers leads Redhawk scoring at 14.5 ppg. 6”8’ junior forward Altmar Altason, a Bradley transfer from Iceland, contributes 13.2 ppg. 6’5” senior All-MAC guard Peter Suder is scoring 12.3 ppg. They are shooting an impressive .546 from the field and .436 from 3-point range. We’ll find out Saturday if their strong start has been driven by their weak schedule. It will be interesting to see how the Zips deal with their length and perimeter shooting. Edited yesterday at 12:18 PM by clarkwgriswold 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM (edited) It will be important that we run them off the 3-pt line. I feel we're the better team, but the 3-pt line is the great equalizer in basketball and they're good enough to make us pay if we leave their shooters unguarded. Especially since this is @ Miami. Let'sGoZips94 Posted yesterday at 03:13 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:13 AM Make our shots and we win this by double digits. Miami doesn't have the horses in the barn to keep up with us. Quote

BG is at home and Miami is missing a key starter. Not to mention a lot of pro gamblers use advanced metrics or have their own. Looking at Kenpom and NET both are viewed as about equal. On a neutral court it would pretty much be a coin toss. Edited yesterday at 01:11 PM by kreed5120 Quote
Zips1991 Posted yesterday at 03:41 PM Report Posted yesterday at 03:41 PM Miami is now receiving one vote in the coaches poll. They had previously only received votes in the AP poll, I believe. This week's AP poll is not released yet. Quote
csims0917 Posted yesterday at 04:08 PM Report Posted yesterday at 04:08 PM (edited) I hope Miami wins against BG. The better they are the better the win is for us. Would love for it to get flexed but I’m sure Saturday will be crowded with football and other things Edited yesterday at 04:09 PM by csims0917 2 Quote
kreed5120 Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago It doesn't really make a huge difference who wins between Miami or BG IMO. One is ranked 79 and the other is 82. The metrics the committee uses views them about the same. Quote

That Akron team couldn't score at all like this team can. Akron shot 46% from the field and 33% from 3P. Miami shot 49% from the field and 50% from 3P on 30 attempts(!). Miami lost by 2. Miami is largely the same team and are now down their #2 scorer. Good luck keeping up with one of the top offenses in college basketball. 1 Quote
Zips1991 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Miami up 36-15 already. Is it possible that BG are once again frauds? 😆 1 Quote

Unbelievably embarrassing performance by BUGS at home. Quote
LZIp Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Better be ready to guard the 3 Saturday. Miami moneyline was too easy. Edited 15 hours ago by LZIp Quote
NWAkron Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago the longer the winning streak the harder the fall. See Zips 2013 and 2024. Quote

roopride Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Miami like Akron has depth. Not BG. BG has some nice players just not enough Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Miami was at 54 points at the half and just crossed over 60 with just over 12 minutes to play in the 2nd half. Edited 49 minutes ago by Let'sGoZips94 Quote

But the payoff is so worth it again, thank you!! Our guys had a ton of grit that night. Also, I’m not going to miss Ipsaro this year. Just saying. 3 Quote
ZipsFan31 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I got a feeling this game will be like the Murray state game. Track meet. I give them the edge as they are at home. It all comes down to 3 point defense. If we win this one, huge for seeding Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago This game worries me, as do all games in Millett Mausoleum. Maybe it's the ghost of Charlie Coles. 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Miami after last nights action currently sits at #58 in NET. Akron slightly improved to #48. On paper this has to be one of the best mid-major matchups of the season across all of college basketball. It's a shame that it wasn't picked up for TV. Edit: It was also a failure on the MAC's part as they should have made sure these schools played twice. There aren't many opportunities to pick up Q1 & Q2 wins in conference play. The MAC should strategically schedule to maximize the opportunities. Edited 2 hours ago by kreed5120 3 1 Quote

The MAC should strategically schedule to maximize the opportunities. I understand that the league wants to use the early conference dates (which are not subject to wildcard selection) to get some of the lesser teams on national team, so the top teams can be televised later in the season, but it's not like they didn't know this was going to be a good matchup coming into the season. And with it being the only meeting between the two, they should've made certain it was televised. Quote
