Akron over Miami by 15 in the MACC. We come out super motivated and play well while Miami is cocky about having already secured an NCAAT bid (in their  minds) and are unfocused. Miami has has players get into foul trouble because the refs actually call a fair game where Suder can't just bulldoze through the lane with his shoulder down and no intention of getting a quality shot.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Miami losses to either UMass or Toledo though either.

The first upset of the MAC tournament has happened. #5 Ohio just edges #4 CMU in the womens bracket. (And #6 Toledo is looking very solid against #3 UMass).

I'll be curious to see how UMass starts out tomorrow. Because of the imbalanced number of teams in the MAC this year and their havibg the "bye" in the final week, they haven't played a game since March 3rd.

Am I the only one that wishes the Miami game and the Akron game were back to back?

We have tickets through UA for tomorrow and Saturday. Will be following the games today and then heading home early to watch the Zips.

 

I would love a UA/Miami final but i can’t shake the thought that the RedHocks luck is going to run out. Plus if they think they are in the ncaa no matter what, they won’t be as motivated as the other seven teams who have to win the weekend. And …. that early sleepy tip time for them will be interesting today.

I would also prefer to beat Miami in the championship game but ultimately, as long as we win the tournament, I won't really care who we beat.

Keys to the Weekend:

Play disciplined: Stay under 10 turnovers a game

Shooters Shoot: We have the best guard tandem in the MAC. If 3/4 are hitting (Tavari, Bowen, Shammah, Sharron) then we will blow teams out. Doesn’t have to be the same 3 every game but that’s a nice number to have a 90 point day

Get to the bench early: if you can get 10 deep on day 1 and 2 you’re feeling great. Avoid overtime at any means necessary

Physicality: let Amani and the Mahaffeys wear down our opponents and feast on turnovers.

Nor should they.

 

One of the first possessions for UMass saw a UMass guard body Suder out of the way after Suder pressed up too much. No foul was called and Suder threw his arms up, complaining to the refs. That is literally what Suder does almost every single time he has the ball.
