NWAkron 1,184 Report post Posted January 19 (edited) Garrettsville State blew a 21 point lead against Canada. Now Canada leading in final minutes. Canada looks tough. Edited January 19 by NWAkron

The Hip Zip 224 Report post Posted January 21 Canada has as much, or possibly more, talent as anybody in the MAC. Their biggest problem is Coach Jim Whitesell. They sorely miss Nate Oats, who has done an exceptional job in his 2 years at Alabama.

GJGood 136 Report post Posted January 22 Quick look at the MAC standings uncovers something really rare. Toledo leads the conference with one league loss. That loss is Akron. EMU and NIU sit at the bottom of the MAC standings with only one win a piece. That one win in each case is Akron. How odd is that?

zippy5 1,622 Report post Posted January 23 I like the 8 team thing but I also like byes for the best regular season teams, which is taken away with an 8 team tourney. So it makes the regular season more meaningful, and then it kinda doesn't.
1981 grad 404 Report post Posted January 23 The NIT is still on for 2021 and the conference champion gets an auto bid to the tourney so it gives more meaning to winning the conference.

On the chance that the conference tournament doesn't get held they would send the regular season champ. I think the Zips can beat anyone in the tourney so I don't want to risk missing it because of that. Zips deserve a return trip after getting cheated out of it last year. Also happy there are no divisions this year for that reason. Whoever gets the first seed this year will have really earned it. MDZip 532 Report post Posted January 27 In general I'm not in favor of expanding the NCAA tournament but I saw an interesting proposal on ESPN for an 80 team one. Both regular season and conference tournament champs would be guaranteed a slot and anyone who won both would get a bye. I'm all for allowing more participation by the overlooked teams.
