  1. Past hour
  2. Football feels like an afterthought at Akron as well. No community or booster support (NIL), constant bashing of the program.
  3. If that were the case, it’s pretty hard not to extend the coach who would have the most wins since 2017 and elevated the program in back to back years, especially with all that the program has going against it (and fwiw I think Joe plays a part in that too).
  4. Today
  5. On the bright side of the JoeMo conversation, Saturday I saw a lot of fire from JoeMo on the sideline. It was nice. He's got a freshman on the team this year who, though undersized, is the missing piece dual-threat JoeMo's been missing here at UA, and he's got a top-shelf dual-threat high school prospect committed for next year.
  6. If Akron can stumble to 5 wins that way it's good enough to take pressure off firing him, but not good enough to extend would likely be the best case scenario.
  7. Couldn't that be said about athletics as a whole? They haven't even made it to the NCAA tournament for men's hoops since 1992.
  8. Football at Fordham is an afterthought. Not much pressure from the alumni or community to have a big winner.
  9. Of all the things he did or neglected to do during his brief UA tenure, that might turn out to be amongst the least egregious moves. Go Fordham (1-5, with a win over 0-6 Holy Cross).
  10. Well Chuck Guthrie did extend him after winning 2 games…
  11. That's good to hear. I would still be nervous entering the season with only 2 bigs if Barre misses significant time. Another injury or even foul trouble suddenly places you in a bind. Hopefully he can return to the court soon. Nice to hear Amani expanding his range. That would allow Groce more flexibility if he needs to adjust his lineups in certain situations.
  12. And if your team wins you do both
  13. It's Laramie, WY. You either attend the football game or go cow tipping.
  14. Cornell comes in with a record of 7-1 and they've outscored their opponents 24-2 on the season. They've also scored 11 goals in just their last two matches. Gonna be a tough road match and we'll likely need multiple goals to win it.

  15. I heard that too, and he didnt mince words. apparently the "ACR?" penalty prohibits post season games and removes an additional day of practice weekly! (one off day was already mandated so we are only practicing 4 days a week vs 5 for everyone else we play
  16. Sounded like its a strain and not a tear which is good. Overall they looked tremendously deep! Brisco looks solid, and Amani has been working on his 3 ball
  17. I'm still trying to nominate him for any OC job anywhere else.
  18. Not disagreeing with you, but to be fair, that’s pretty much every team’s message board. Just look around the MAC — heading into this week’s game, CMU fans were talking about a possible 6-2 conference finish. After the loss, the tone completely flipped on their coaches and players. WMU fans were ready to run everyone out of town until they slipped past Toledo. NIU fans are calling for their coach’s job after nearly every loss. It’s just the nature of fanbases. I’ve said this before, but as far as not being bowl eligible — don’t be so sure that sticks if we somehow get to six wins. The NCAA is becoming more toothless by the day.
  19. Perhaps not surprisingly, Akron is out of the Top Drawer poll. Meanwhile, tomorrow's opponent Cornell is #13. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men In the College Soccer News poll, Akron is #22 and Cornell is #19. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-mens-week-7-top-25-coaches-poll-vermont-claims-1-bryant-climbs-into-top-5-and-virginia-and-duke-jump-into-top-10/
  20. For what it's worth I still have this team penciled in for about 4 wins, which is what I believe I had predicted at the start of the season.
  21. Uh, oh. In the right pic you can see Chabi Barre is in a walking boot. Hope it heals up quickly
  22. You gotta love Akron football fans and the people on this board!!! We finally win a MAC game early in the season and we are talking about a bowl game even though we are technically not eligable. Last week this board was talking about firing our coach. When I was leaving the stadium I felt like taking a picture of our victory formation because I thought when is this ever going to happen again. If we win next week, this board will nominate Joe for coach of the year.
  23. But look at all the fans in the stands..... They showed out~
  24. Congratulations to Jason Shokalook
  25. Yesterday
  26. Heard Jon left to be closer to family. He and his wife have a child. Jon left on good terms.
  27. I had better outcomes in mind before the season started. There weren't going to be any legal bills. Bowls are a no lose proposition. For schools like Akron, it's a nice reward for a decent season. If you win, great. If you lose, it doesn't harm a program and the loses are quickly forgotten during the Holiday season.
