Match #9 - St. Louis
Let'sGoZips94 replied to csims0917's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
No offense to Zips soccer, but I hope anyone interested in the Guardians is at that game instead. My kids and I are going to the Guardians game - gotta let Skubal know he's well loved in Cleveland. We're actually sitting near where Lane Thomas hit the grand slam. Weather should be great, though, and the student turnout needs to be good tonight. Every match is big when you have a championship-caliber team. Right the ship tonight and let's get back on track. Go Zips (and Guardians)! - Today

Massive match tonight. I will have the guards on in one ear bud but hopefully that doesnt affect attendance too much! Weather should clear up

This topic is called 2025 Rankings and RPI thread..... I know that it is only September 22...but most of the teams have played 8 of their allowed 17 regular season games.... I think it is OK now to look at current RPI.... I looked at this around 11 pm last night (so the RPI rankings shown include Sunday night VCU 0-0 tie with Dayton) Sunday night September 21 RPI....for zips, all teams on their schedule...and also includes the 3 big east teams not on schedule If my memory is not shot, this should show 21 teams Vermont 5 St. Louis 6 mighty, mighty Zips 15 UConn 27 W. VA 35 VCU 36 Georgetown 48 Creighton 55 Seton Hall 63 Cornell 74 Marquette 79 St. John's 80 DePaul 83 Ohio State 97 Providence 104 Villanova 107 Xavier 126 Northern Kentucky 130 Cleveland State 155 Western Michigan 187 Butler 197 - Yesterday

Great news. Thanks for posting.

Ya, id rather think about food and the possibility of some.of you being able to go to a game that starts on a day and time that is convenient for you to attend. It's going to be 80 degrees. Get out of your freaking house. The lawn can wait another week. Rent a room and stay the night after going to a great steakhouse. You won't regret it. https://mancyssteakhouse.com/#

There are some great Instagram of the kids wrapping up Fall training and they look like they've really been hitting the weights in the off-season! -

This is the way and @Zips1991 is spot on. It's the best kept secret in Akron athletics, although it looks like more and more people are utilizing this trick. I bought a season ticket for football solely so I could move all but 1 game to the Wyoming game. It ended up being quite a bit cheaper for my family to attend the Wyoming game, and I still have a ticket to the Kent game, plus the parking pass. I also did the same for basketball this year, but haven't figured out which games I want to attend. With 3 kids (6, 3, and 5 months), it's the most convenient way to attend Akron sporting events. You can email Matt or call the ticket office and they've been very good about making any changes in a timely manner. Early congratulations on the marriage! -

I think we're still pretty early in the season and the polls will have a lot of volatility. But I do agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense. 😂 -

Zips are #12 in the College Soccer News poll this week. While Saint Louis is #10. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-mens-soccer-week-5-top-25-coaches-poll-michigan-makes-a-big-jump-into-the-top-10-and-portland-continues-to-rise/ -
I can't believe I am saying this, but I am actually taking the Zips and the 21 1/2. I don't think they can beat them straight up but I don't think they get beat by 22 either. I expect some changes on the defensive line. They have to get pressure on the qb. I am so impressed with Coop and Malcom. They have really been a bright spot to the defense. Coop is ranked 52 out of 786 by PFF and Malcom is ranked 20 out of 834 by PFF Those are incredible.....

Zips come in at #23 in this week's Top Drawer poll. Saint Louis is at #21. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men -
Despite missing the next 15 days, Bassitt could still earn that October starting spot. The Jays will face a decision between a currently struggling Scherzer and Bassitt after a long layoff.
