  2. top drawer soccer also included a goal that Aiden scored
  3. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=21&articleId=55589&articleTitle=ten-underrated-mens-transfer-portal-moves Aiden Benitez, Akron Benitez is headed to Akron after recording four goals and four assists in a stellar first season for the Butler Bulldogs. The Indiana native can play multiple attacking roles at a high level, and his conference experience suggests he could get off to a fast start.
  4. Saw a few players tweet about wanting/possibly expecting this guy.
  5. I saw a documentary on Arizona State's point shaving scandal. The point guard was the key player. He didn't miss shots or play bad defense. All he did was slow down the progression of the office to the point that a big guy would get the ball 20 feet from the basket and be forced to throw up a shot because the shot clock was running out. He wasn't losing games. He was just keeping bad teams close.
  6. Yesterday
  7. Congratulations to Zips Men’s Soccer alum Will Meyer on re-signing for 2026.
  8. And both will have a lesser legacy at their respective schools for leaving.
  9. Basketball is just the easiest sport to fix since there are only 5 players playing at a time and players play both offense and defense. I will say thankfully Ohio banned prop bets for collegiate athletes. If it was still active this would likely even be a bigger problem.
  10. It's too easy to do and keep secret.
  11. You've only got about 12 guys to work with in terms of MBB, I genuinely believe they all are free from this. Maybe our "kicker" against Indiana had a bet out there
  12. Two Guardians were betting on the games they were playing in. In regards to your previous post, gambling isn't going to ruin college sports, it is in the process of ruining society. In particular, young men are ruining their futures gambling. Since we are talking gambling, I'll throw this out there. I would bet $5,000 that in the past 3 years, at least one starting player on the football team or MBB team has bet on a game they were playing in using a gambling app. It's too easy to get away with if you do it in small numbers.
  13. Also you wonder how much lack of NIL money might have had to do with this. There a no P4 schools named (although there were some Big East schools). If you're already getting paid enough, no reason to take the risk, but if you're making nothing and see all the other schools paying their players big money that could be a root cause.
  14. I understand. I am also saying the committee isn't going to leave out a team ranked in the top 15 of the major polls
  15. With a team made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores.
  16. I was referring to NET and other advanced stats the committee uses, not the AP poll. A number of years ago a ranked team, I think it was St. Mary's, was left out of March Madness despite being ranked in the polls. Being ranked isn't a guarantee to making the field.
  17. "Our goal is to build and sustain a championship-caliber program that contends for MAC titles and NCAA Tournament berths on an annual basis," Guthrie said. "I believe that Ryan brings the vision, experience and deep roots in Ohio that will allow the Zips to reach new heights. "More importantly, during the process Ryan demonstrated a strong commitment to develop well-rounded leaders on the court and in the classroom." Man, that Guthrie guy was so much more than just a gifted Graphic Designer. Anyone else wish we had Mahoning Valley Mel back? She won 12 games last year, and sits at 13-5 with the Penguins this season.
  18. There's a coach with proven ability to recruit in Northeast Ohio that has her squad in 2nd place in the Horizon League currently. Think we could ever get someone like that to come to Akron and bring us a MAC Player of the Year and trips to Cleveland?
  19. Anyway, that's just not gonna happen
  20. Miami is ranked 29th or 30th now - if they won out for almost two more months you're talking top 15. Ain't no way they get left out in that scenario
  21. There really isn't a test case to say definitively how the committee would handle the situation. Based off their computer numbers and lack of Q1 and Q2 wins it would be a no. At the same time I think it would be hard for them to exclude a team with 1 loss, presuming to a top ~50 Akron.
  22. If Miami has an undefeated regular season, do they get an at large bid?
  23. Most likely. There would be no reason for a Kent player to bet on their team covering the spread, as you can't really guarantee covering a spread as much as you can NOT covering the spread.
  24. I saw it mentioned that the EMU player is in trouble for games last season when he played for New Orleans. Not for any games this year at EMU. That would likely mean it was the Buffalo player, whoever that is.
  25. Among the Wagers listed in the indictment *Approximately $424,000 on Kent State to cover the first-half spread against Buffalo * Sooo ... Did a UB or Kent player bet on this game. OR, did the EMU kid bet on this game? Somebody explain. I only bet on the horses, so I don't understand this.
  26. We should go Jesuit/private, merge with John Carroll and join the BE.
