I didn't look too far into it but it says on this page that you can purchase an "event pass" for $20. I assume you get to watch all four games for that price (there's 3 games after the Zips game). https://www.ballertv.com/events/jack-jones-classic-2025

That public ivy thing was a brilliant marketing move. Not true, really, but effective. Miami isn't even one of the 59 or so R1 research universities, unlike a few other MAC schools. Unfortunately, Akron is (unfairly) considered a public nutsedge among many Ohioans.
-
IMHO Northwestern is not a comparable example. However a School like Rice is. Even with their small enrollment, seem to have similar academic standards as Northwestern. They have more money then they know what to do with and the only Sport they cared about for years was Baseball. Now is seems like their Admin there is actually at least trying to care(or at least the illusion) that they care. We can even look within our own Conference with Miami if you like with them being a Public Ivy. To fix the problem, it has to start at the top

Worst thing I've read today. https://support.baller.tv/hc/en-us/articles/8996313312013-Pricing-Live-Stream-Access I just googled how much is baller tv and it took me to this link. If the smallest plan is $44 there is no way I will be watching

It was because of Alvin Davis.

Both deal with structural barriers that make winning harder, just in different ways. Northwestern’s high academic standards limit who they can recruit, while Akron faces a litany list of issues — a postseason ban, limited resources, inadequate support for football, and almost no NIL. These issues impact Akon more-so than any other MAC program. So criticizing Fitzgerald for not winning big at Northwestern ignores the constraints he coached under, just like judging JoeMo without acknowledging Akron’s situation SOMEWHAT misses the point and I am far from a JoeMo Stan BUT I think we face greater issues (that AD Goodrich is already working on). Akron beating Northwestern wasn't because Fitz was a bad coach (at least in my opinion).

I think this game is on baller TV. Bleh

Just jumping in to say that this season was a pleasant surprise and the post season run was incredible. You could see the on- field chemistry. So gutted for the guys. If the ending was hard to see as a fan, quadruple that feeling for the players. And I don't blame Stefan one bit for continuing what was working for him - how many PKs did he successfully convert prior to this one? No player has a 100% conversion rate even at the pro level. Eventually, an attempt will be saved or will go wide or high. As for the SLU game ...sheesh...as long as I've been watching soccer (a long time) and playing (maybe too long) I can't recall that many unfortunate occurrences in a single match over such a short time period and to such detrimental effect. Lady luck must have been on a cruise. These are the types of games that can propel a group forward. I'm happy to hear that the incoming class is talented. That taken with the now experienced returners should produce another good year. Congrats to the players and coaching staff for getting Akron soccer back on the map. Onward and upward! -

Bad time for an “I told ya so” but I wince every time Stefan takes a PK. Sure, he still makes most of them but a good goalie like SLU’s won’t fall for the stutter. pic from VCU game thread -
That'll be a Q3 win at worst and maybe even a Q2 win if Tulane can l pull things together. Regardless, winning by nearly 20 at Tulane will show well all year.
-
Up to 41 in NET. Tulane is 256 so unfortunately that wasn't the opportunity we thought it might be preseason. Murray State will be a good test
-
The talent gap at Akron isn't very large compared to most of the MAC. In fact, we lost games vs teams throughout the year that we were more talented than. JoeMo is absolutely a problem. Is he the problem? Maybe not, but he has yet to be the solution. I wish Akron had Northwestern's problems. Instead of having exceedingly high academic standards that stunt the growth of the program, our lack of academic standards have hurt the program. Regardless, Northwestern is still getting a large check from the Big Ten - literally 5× greater than what Akron gets from the MAC. I'm not sure how they are a comparison. By the way, our most recent P4 win came against Northwestern. It's possible to win at Akron but it largely starts with a coach that is willing to overcome the circumstances and lead.

Beals could be a program changer, for a year at least lol. https://www.pennlive.com/highschoolsports/2025/12/i-wasnt-going-to-sleep-without-this-dub-semaj-beals-shines-in-5a-title-game-victory.html?utm_campaign=preps_sf&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwQ0xDSwOi-k5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEej56kWkRHPbEESDKzRtR_nFiAoxWrJZEKSnuX5fePaqjmElKlGcCZIhvsr0w_aem_QhSmWH0amJ41rcRBRRLMqw - Yesterday

Maybe Kehres is playing chess and trying to insert himself as the top replacement from the inside.

The way I see it is they would be a near lock to win the ACC almost any year. They certainly would finish ahead of Tulane or any other G5 school. Of course they might now have competition with Franklin at Virginia Tech. But you're right the B1G makes more sense. I just said ACC as they already house their other sports there.
-
They would stand the risk of program erosion in a conference that bad. Remember when Clemson and FSU were good? Someday someone could be saying that about them. The best thing ND could do is join the Big 10. It's a multi bid conference and entrance into the league would improve their recruiting making them more competitive. ND is a good program that can compete in the long term but it cannot do that from a laughable conference.
-
It will be interesting. It's not a huge jump, but like all things in college athletics, it's a move in the wrong direction. In the past, college sports had JV squads. One thing players on a team have to be conscious about is the staff bringing on younger players to move others out. 100+ players is enough to have a JV team. This JV team could be used as a vehicle for allowing borderline players to prove themselves in game experiences. If a kid isn't providing himself on the JV team through his sophomore season, the coaches can then have a conversation with him about playing football at that school probably isn't the best option for him and he can transfer or stay on scholarship outside of the football program. It may cut down on some transfers, or some players could be close enough to graduation that they retire from football.
-
Screw ND, spoiled babies. They got what they earned - nothing
-
Correct, if they were in the ACC they would have had a 13th game and almost certainly a spot in the field.
-
No disagreement from me there. We haven't seen the impact of the increase to 105 scholarships yet, but we will soon enough.
-
It's pretty obvious to me that the solution to the college football playoffs wasn't adding teams. It's what you do when it is really all about money combined with being too stupid to come up with better solutions to a problem. The solution is now, and always was, having fewer teams.
-
I hope they use this free time to figure out not being in a conference isn't the best path forward.
-
And Notre Dame just threw a tantrum and refused any bowl invite.
