  1. Past hour
  2. Correct, although right now is an anomaly with Memphis, Wichita St., etc. struggling. Last year, the AAC finished as the 11th best conference in NET (the MAC was 23rd for comparison). It is still closer to that Next 5 tier than it is a bottom half/one-bid conference.
  3. It's easier to win in the American now, but it's also very much a mid-major. Before it was in an awkward position where it wasn't a power conference school, but still clearly a step above the rest. If you actually look at the top 2/3 of both conferences they're pretty much the same now. Those top 8 teams in AAC have an average NET of 122.5 while the top 8 in the MAC are 122. The only thing that separates the 2 conferences is the handful of teams at the bottom of the conference. The MAC has more dead weight.
  4. Friday 12/5 at 7pm EST. Rematch of last year's 5A title game where Semaj's team was a runner up.
  5. Big time, which is a little surprising considering a few of the OGs are still involved with the University.
  6. He has had 2 winning seasons in his first 6 years at the helm. Now, Tulane was an absolute train wreck under their previous HC, Mike Dunleavy, and they did not have much success prior to him, either. Tough spot to win it looks like and I'm sure the fan base is tired of seeing the program struggle to get over any sort of consistently successful hump. Also a tough conference to win in with Memphis, Wichita St., etc., but it's much easier than it used to be with Cincy, Houston, and others departing in recent years.
  7. Pretty sad how far the rowdies have fallen off, used to be a ruthless environment, even the first few years out of covid.
  8. Hmm. Tulane is 6-2 with wins over Samford, Texas State, Louisiana, and Boston College. They did, however, get run off the court by New Orleans (85-63), so that has to rub the Tulane alumni the wrong way.
  9. I'm sure they heard things said by the Rowdies about their son that still haunt them today lol. That was around the time when the Rowdies were still doing Facebook deep dives and NSFW goalie introductions.
  10. This is the plan but it's only a great Saturday if they both win!
  11. Still something me and my friend talk about. We were students at the time and sitting in the GA seats behind the hill. As the match went to PKs, we realized that we were sitting right behind the family of the Cal goalkeeper.
  12. If you'd like to watch future Zips QB Semaj Beals in the PA 5-A (2nd largest division) state title game, here is a link to the NFHS Network for online streaming. Unfortunately it does require a monthly subscription for $11.99. So if you watch Semaj don't forget to cancel afterwards!
  13. If history repeats itself these freshmen won't see the field this year, they will develop and possibly see the field next year or the next similar to what Dall did. At some point a program is going to have to develop from within. A program is going to have to develop and bring in players from the portal as well... They only brought in seven players, there are still plenty of roster spots
  14. 2nd coldest Zips sporting event I've ever been to, right behind the 2005 Snow Bowl Wagon Wheel game. Such a fun win, though. Beat Saint Louis - Go Zips!
  15. In a world where most teams have 22 & 23 year olds, a team of 18-19 year olds is rarely going to be consistently successful. Would much prefer we save roster spots for grown men.
  16. Semaj and Jaborree both stacked scholarship offers but many "weren't committable." But JoeMo's extremely happy with both, obviously. I mentioned JoeMo targeting a TP or JUCO QB for next season to bring us to 4 QB (Raggow the only QB on the current roster w/ any PT experience). Article also talks about Donovan Moorhead & that JoeMo did in fact offer him, but they were clear early on there'd be a lot less controversy/drama if he went & played somewhere else other than for his dad. The linebacker we signed out of Pickerington North, Dante Curtis, was D-1 Ohio Central Region defensive POY. the DB we signed out of VASJ, Savion Lewis, was the D-3 Ohio Lakes Region defensive POY.
  17. If anyone is interested, Semaj Beals, the QB that commited is playing Friday night at 7 pm in the PA 5A state championshiop: Friday, 7 p.m. at Cumberland Valley HS (TV: PCN Audio Stream: PIAA Radio Network) PA classifies differently than Ohio I think. It goes 1A smallest to 6A the biggest. The article I read talks about Beals' High School and it brings back a lot of starters: "Chief among them is Beals, who is back under center for the Cahillites. The 6-1, 190-pound senior has thrown for 2,581 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, completing just under 65% of his pass attempts. " His top targets are seniors Ash Roberts (49-752, 10 TDs) and Eyan Stead (45-579, 10 TDs) and junior Eisa Nealy (32-479, 6 TDs). Stead and Nealy both saw action in last year's title game. Roman does most of its damage with Beals throwing the ball; the rush attack averages just over 100 yards per game, with sophomore Tre Montgomery (106-548, 2 TDs) leading the way.
  18. Today
  19. Anyone thinking Zips’ victory will come easily on Saturday is very foolish. Long-time Zips faithful have been to this stage of the tournament many times. These contests are frequently decided in either OT or PKs. Remember vs. California in 2010? Remember vs. Creighton in 2012? Remember vs. Creighton in 2015? Defeating a quality tournament opponent requires squad cohesion, maximum effort, and near flawless execution. And a little luck also helps.
  20. The good news is most zones are mid game adjustments by the opponent, not necessarily their identity. The Zips have several days to fully prepare which should help. Just read Tulane's board. They want their coach fired yesterday. Here's to hoping we can help get that wish to the finish line! Apparently their coach is Ron Hunter. He's an Ohio native who played 4 years at Miami OH in the 80s.
  21. Someone tell Mr. UCLA that. 1 guy in their entire 9 man rotation is from Indiana, and he's their 8th best scorer. Also, relying on Ohio Bobcat rejects like Elmore James IV to be key contributors probably isn't the best roster building strategy. They're not particularly tall and they don't shoot the ball very well. Not a great recipe for success.
  22. Tons of tickets left currently!
  23. Great article by Michael Beaven on our recruiting class. Insight into how we signed Semaj & mentions JoeMo aiming to bring in a TP or JUCO QB to compete for the starting job next season.
  24. It will be interesting to see how the Zips handle the Tulane match up zone. The Zips often seem to have trouble in initially adjusting to a zone. The Tulane zone is different than what they've faced. I hope they can adjust quickly to it rather than get off to a slow start.
  25. Ball State is so weird. Their first year with Lewis they were a solid team pushing to be a top seed, then they lose the last 3 games of the year, get a 4 seed and bow out on Thursday in Cleveland. The next year they lost almost everyone and didn't make it to Cleveland. Year 3 they get Payton Sparks back and they have the same record as the year prior. Just so weird. Just being in Indiana you think they'd be better as basketball
